I am surprised I had the guts to step in KaDeWe today, because two nights again, I was bounced out of the Gucci store. Today, I made my way around the store zig-zag and up-and-down and zig-zag and up-and-down again! First stop, first floor flagship, then handbags, womenswear, shoes, back to flagship,
Flagship> Prada
I am really disappointed! I like the green-themed decoration at the store, of course, I thought it is full of depth and mystique. I also enjoyed the music played there, but I did not find the details and quality that customers sort after. I found a frayed thread on spring’s python platform heels. I mean if I was the store manager, I would definitely not put that on sales. Other than that failed to see the lux in oversized brooches encrusted with jewels – found it neither exotic nor dazzling even under the spotlight. Was trying to fool myself to be kind, because Prada has always been one of my favorites and Miuccia has just been so amazing continuously, but even with that in mind, I could only give leatherware a satisfactory rating.
As that annoying T-Shirt says, I have to unfortunately say: “Harder! Harder! Miuccia Prada!”
Handbag> Chloe
When I was walking past Chloe, I tried not to like anything, because I love Paulo not whatever-her-name-is [1]. Despite that, I thought they had one very extraordinary bag from the spring/summer 2009 collection, which I am dying for. At a cost of over 1000 euros, the bag is in black and is shaped in a 3-D trapezoidal shape with soft leather. I just love the gold chain. Rich and perfect for day and night.
Womenswear> Luisa Cerano
Luisa Cerano has this brand tag, which changes image when you view it at different angle. It features two different pictures of German model Julia Stegner. I am now really recommending All Stegner fans to purchase Luisa Cerano just to get this fun tag and I am sure the sales will distribute a lookbook with purchases.
Shoes> Peter Kaiser
Peter Kaiser is my new stellar discovery. I first saw it here in Berlin at Leiser, a shoe chainstore. I am really recommending this brand, because it looks like what quality should look like and be. Moreover, it feels comfortable – that’s important! Peter Kaiser’s shoes are not overly trendy, but you know, it will always be classically hot and in trend in its own modest way. In that sense, I would call it multipurpose, too! I am sure it will last for years and even decades for sure.
The German shoemaker has been making shoes since 1838. If they don’t know how to make shoes by now, then, icecream at Potsdamerplatz will not cost 3 whole euros [2].
Shoes> Emporio Armani
Despite my negative image of Mr. Armani and his shows being ultra boring, Emporio Armani shoes actually have exquisite details upon closeup examination. Ultimately, he is really defining luxury – no wonder Asian clients love him. I thought Mr. Armani really should put his shoes on display somewhere overcrowded, so that everybody would see how great it is themselves; but then, realised the idea is simply absurd, because that would only boost crime rates in that area.
Shoes> Jil Sander
Jil Sander’s skyscraper high heels from Spring/Summer 2009 may only be worn by fantastic fanatic famme fatale.
Flagship> Chanel
Cold saleswoman at Chanel made me imagine it is Mr. Lagerfeld himself working at th store. It’s all about attitude!
Flagship> Gucci
The Gucci store is once again packed with ants people. Now that I have seen studied a series of accessories by other designers, I really understand why Gucci is doing quite well numerically despite the big credit crunch. It is something luxurious every girl and every eastern european girl wants. Frida really designs her accessories line with passion and caution. Everyone is executed so precisely, the bag looks as if it is made in heaven.
Really loved the nice hippie bags in cowgirl brown – thought they will be a big hit this spring/summer 2009. Above all, I wanted to take one python skin shoulder bag in mystique green. Tres chic! Tres want!
After seeing what I saw today, I thought Frida is definitely the Queen of Accessories and worthy of the title and throne to it. Free for Frida!
Menswear> Dior Homme
This is my first Dior Homme experience. I don’t really hang out at the menswear department, but today, I did, and I felt funny, but I knew I had to, because there is so much about menswear that I don’t know and the best thing is to go right up to the top and examine everything.
I am not sure whether I am right, but I thought the collection is very much inspired by sportswear. I liked how everything is very streamlined and precise. It was intricate but had a simple easy non-chalant look to it, which I felt is how fashion as it should be – nothing more, nothing less. That is what Monsieur Dior is all about, no? I feel this is especially great for the non-homosexual men population, who wants to look good and feel good about their style, but not spend too much time on it.
And yes, I do want it all, too, even though it is menswear! I would probably start with a grey with very thin black stripped tee. Simple and simply perfect!
Menswear> Karl Lagerfeld Homme
When I saw Mr. Lagerfeld’s collection, I thought it was very Karl Kool, but would I wear this collection knowing that the Kaiser himself wears Dior Homme, too?
Menswear> Armani Uomo
Armani menswear is nice! Go get it, boys!
Menswear> Versace Uomo
For me, Versace men are to die for! The boats [3] coats are delectable – not your typical cabana boy fashion at all! Though in my opinion, you should not get anything white from Versace this Spring/Summer 2009. I am not sure if it is only KaDeWe, but the whites on the racks caught a lot of dusts, so if it catches a lot of dust in the third (or second?) floor of a store already, then, imagine it in your wardrobe. Moreover, I thought this season’s white looks too yellow-tainted for my liking, but maybe some guys look good in that yellow tint (your teeth would look less yellow, too!). So the decision is really up to you, but the important thing is: you gotta get your butt to Versace to see all the va-va-voom!
Time flies when I am doing store checks. The announcement was made in at least 5 languages,

[2] 3 whole euros in Berlin can get you a meal in a lot of places, i.e. noodles at China Box, a fast food Asian chain store in Berlin.
