Russian model Sasha Pivovarova for H&M Fall 2009
This happened yesterday, after a long day of ogling some really really beyond great pieces from a lot of different labels, like Acne, Neil Barrett, Lanvin, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Givenchy and etc. We finally made our way to H&M to buy the things we could truly afford and steal obtain three copies of H&M magazine on the way (Mmm… Marina Linchuk in underwear!).
The store at the time was as usual crowded with a swamp of people and amongst which, we spotted a woman, with a larger-than-her Miu Miu paper bag under her arm, struggling to squeeze through the rather tightly spaced racks in the sea of people to check out a particular extraordinaire of her taste. The sight of it was so ridiculously hilarious that it poked out my mean bone, as I spoke to my friend in English thinking that the “glamorous” owner of the fore-mentioned label would not understand a word coming from a certain blabber mouth, which spoke inconsiderately of her daring cynical thoughts: some stuff hailing from a certain peachy-pink label is just made of 100% cheese. Just as the word “overrated” was emphasised, the woman suddenly turned to look at us, took flight in a rather slapdash fashion and was gone with her overpowering big bag of goodies in a matter of microseconds. Well… Walls have ears and without the walls, oops…

Abbey Lee Kershaw, Natasha Poly and Monika Jagaciak in Versace
Leggy dolls with sexy glossy hair walked down the runway for Versace’s show on Friday, September 25, 2009. It is a classic Versace collection that is light, sexy and modern. Watch out! Milan is on fire!

Rianne Ten Haken, Ginta Lapina and Hanne Gaby Odiele in Proenza Schouler
Spring/Summer 2010 is here and you can certainly see it and sense it here at Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough’s show for Proenza Schouler. This season, the collection took its cue from the designer duo’s last cruise collection presented just two months ago. The same youthful surf culture runs manifestly and intricately through. What has evolved from that refined collection of eccentric waves and zigzags is a fierce unstoppable rock n’ roll edge that shows off each of the girl’s unique personalityand brings us an unforeseen explosive surprise.

Sasha Pivovarova and Kate Moss are the faces for Longchamp
With British IT-girl Kate Moss and red hot Russian Sasha Pivovarova in the house, you know the ad campaign and the accompanying collection is sizzling hot.
With a colour pool of blue as background shade, a distinctive cool vibe vibrates all throughout the lookbook showing off a collection, which is conspicuously smart, casual and classy.
With its exquisite and rich finishing touches, the range of products - from the belts to the bags and the wardrobe – is simply scrumptious. Outstanding pieces include a suitcase made with exotic python skin and a shoulder bag in a digitalised colour palette in the shades of the rainbow. It is very eccentric.
Above all, there is also this season’s IT bags, which has the words “Ceci est un IT bags” printed on it to identify its IT status. Now, even before the dumbest of dumb knows.

Overall, I was quite pleased with the March issue of Vogue U.S. The price is reasonable for its content. It is not as thick as it once was, but it has pretty much all you need to know for Spring/Summer 2009 in terms of ad-wise and ed-wise. Perhaps Ms. Wintour should stay afterall…

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana's makeup ad
I love how I flip through the first page and there is this double-double-folded page of a Dolce & Gabbana makeup ad with Scarlett Johansson channelling Marylin Monroe. It really sells to me – partly it is of course because of the precision makeup application by Pat McGrath and the ingenious photographic work by Sølve Sundsbø; but also because of its high resolution. Printed mags still win e-mags or forum scans for me.
Editorial-wise, I find it absolutely strange to see some European Vogue favorites in U.S. Vogue, like Anna Maria Jagodzińska, Anna Selezneva, Edita Vilkevičiūtė, Sasha Pivovarova and Natasha Poly. Of course, these slavic girls are not bound to appear only in European Vogue, but because U.S. Vogue has been quite brazilianised over the years, seeing some Slavic faces in it just seems like meeting a Martian on earth for me. It is an exciting-yet-frightening experience. In particular, when Ms. Pivovarova and Ms. Poly had to do the signature U.S. Vogue jump to be photographed respectively by David Sims and Patrick Demarchelier, it was weird and brought back memories of old U.S. Vogue I had with Caroline Trentini. Where are you, dear Carol?

Doing the U.S. Vogue Jump: Sasha Pivovarova, Caroline Trentini and Natasha Poly
Other than that, it is always great to see Carol’s fellow brazilian model:
Raquel Zimmerman. I must admit, I used to have a lot of doubts about Raquel, but the more I see of her work, the more I see how committed she is and how much energy she gives, and for that, I started to really appreciate her. She is a true professional.
In terms of clothing choice, the best were chosen of course. Watch out for Louis Vuitton’s exotically wild feather-decorated heels; Rodarte’s scary diamond cut leggings; Alexander McQueen’s leather corsette belt; python-print dress and python-and-whip snake slingback pumps both from Prada; caged T-strap sandals and caged ankle boots both from Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati; and Narciso Rodriguez’s zebra print pants.
Content-wise, I have not read through the issue yet, because I still have a load of print-outs from iht.com, nytimes.com, ft.com and themoscowtimes.com to read through, but the topics look quite interesting and relevant to today.
Overall, I give this issue 8 out of 10.
Considering that there is no annoying lengthy searches, no getting infected by viruses on imagevenue and no weird sex ads on image bam, buying it is a wise move, so I will definitely recommend it.
If you missed it, buy it on ebay.

Versaces Vision to the Future
The people, who view Ms. Versace as merely a typical blonde, is utterly underestimating the power of blondness, as she once again exhibits a praise-worthy collection that silently screams out: “Is there anything Donatella cannot do?”

Michael Kors, the American designer, whose part time occupation as judge on the American hit reality TV Show “Project Runway” has boosted his status globally and consequently earned him a title amongst the idolised gang of superstars on the silver screen. Whilst all things concerning popularity may appear truly dazzling for Mr. Kors, I am not completely sure if his fall/winter 2009/10 collection, shown February 18 this year, was a fair portrayal of his work, which exhibits his eligibility as a role model for young aspiring designers.

Vlada Roslyakova, Frankie Rayder and Carmen Kass in Michael Kors
In terms of design and construction, the show undeniably crossed path with the hottest European brand names of the moment and to a far extent, it almost seemed like the looks were shipped exactly as they were directly to New York for this special occasion.
