Luella Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 London

Honestly, there was one point in my life when I feel that I am too old to wear Luella. So undoubtedly, during that time, my virtual life on the web became Luella-less. However, today, when I ponder upon pictures from Luella’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, I came to that point of realisation: Luella might be cute and sweet and prim and proper, but that does not mean she is monotonous or age-specific at all. Namely, cute and sweet and prim and proper are not priviledged to young girls only, because the Luella girl is full of life and pleasant surprises.

Jil Sander Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2009 Milano

I had been looking forward to seeing the entire Jil Sander collection for awhile and now that I have seen this display of purely remarkable creation, I feel a little scared about writing about it, because it is simply amazing! If I don’t write enough, I do not focus enough on the collection; and if I write too much, I will kill the simplicity of an iconique  Jil Sander Collection.

While any references are made in a minimal fashion, which in turn allows the ingenious Simons to exhibit his freedom to be inspired by the moment; the philosophy of the German fashion house to focus on elements of purity is no doubt present in this season’s collection as well.

I love the show, because it is very twisted in a peek-a-boo way! It really plays with the viewers of the clothes in that obscure manner. The hypersexual element is very minimal but when tuned to the right channel, it is very voluminous and so powerful, which makes it fit to be presented in the city that is no stranger to sex and not inferior to other collections presented there. The black stretch bodysuits with silken skeins of fringing drapping down accentuate every curve of a woman’s body perfectly and eroticise it to present a look that is simply understated in a sensual sexual way yet elegant and chic, see Polish Model Magdalena Frackowiak in her first outfit. In fact, the entire look is balanced ingeniously with an equal emphasis on the back of the various pieces. Some of which are opened up bare or draped with silken skeins of fringing – perhaps symbolising a sort of opening up as Simons brings us to venture with him into a brand new world that is incredibly streamlined and modern.

The Somers of Love

I saw Kate Somers last season in Sportmax’s FTV video and was not so sure whether I liked her or not. Time goes by and this season, we meet again! This time at Lanvin. Her presence was incredible and she really encapsulates the vision of the Lanvin Femme. Really cannot wait to see more of her!

Lanvin Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2009 PARIS

Another great show from Lanvin this season. I love this season’s volumes! Every season, Alber’s immaculate taste comes through the clothing he designs. No doubt the Balenciaga technorobo influence is present in his show, his take on it is to implement it on elements of richness originating from the house of Lanvin: rich fabrics with rich embellishments in a rich colour palette, which includes shades such as luxious green, passionate red and deep-sea blue. The tailoring once again is superb. I really would like to buy those high-waisted tailored pants, which accentuates Raquel’s already endless legs. Another great purchase for this season is no doubt those one-shoulder dresses, which makes anyone long for Lanvin!
