Shopaholic in Training

Went out shopping once again today. I always think everything just looks the same everywhere, but today I had some splendid surprises. Partly because sales are going on in a lot of places, so that just puts me in a good mood everyday. The other reason, of course, is because of the weekend. I love what I do, but you just need some rest sometimes, you know?

H&M Fashion Aids T-Shirt

Saw those Fashion Aids T-Shirt at H&M. The price is quite good and certainly reasonable and perhaps seeing this makes me understand more about the pricing of Matthew Williamson’s capsule collection for H&M. I mean they want everyone to afford it, but they also don’t want everyone to afford it. It is a complicated relationship. I mean surely, you want the publicity, but you don’t want it to be soooo ridiculously cheap that it cheapens your entire name.

Anyway, back on topic. I really like those Fashion Aids designs. Some of them are really creative and the cut is pretty good and it comes in great colour range for men and women, too! So I am glad.

I have already seen one platinum blonde babe wearing a Dita von Teese Tee, she looked a little bit cheesy actually, but I am proud of her for supporting the good cause. That puts a smile on my face and I kind of do want to see more people wearing it on the streets.

Mango

Basically, I go in Mango every week, sometimes 2-3 times a week, so I thought I knew everything that is going on in this Spanish chain store, but it turned out I was wrong. It was probably because of these sales signs, they really do something to me mentally. I just feel less guilty when I buy sales stock, so I have more patience to go through the racks and peek through every corner.

This time, I found a pair of heels I am desperately dying for. It is in black suede and looks like the vintage pair of YSL pumps Julia Restoin-Roitfeld possesses, but the only difference is that it does not have a platform. It is a pair of pumps, which are perfect for me, because I do not think I will survive walking in platforms, so it is better to stick with what I do best.

Zara

My feelings for Zara is the same as my feelings for Mango actually. The only difference is that I think of Hana Soukupova, when someone mentions Zara, instead of Penélope Cruz.

I had the same pleasant time at Zara today, because I discovered a pair of flats I love. It is round and has tiny cut-out shapes around the rim. It is very cute. The thought of whether I should snatch it home or not is simply killing me, because I bought a pair of moccasins from H&M two weeks ago and to buy another pair of flats is simply a waste of environmental resources, because afterall, it is world environment day today and also, I told my landlord I am broke as the predominant reason of my desire to move out, so if I buy that pair of shoes, I would be THE hypocrite and I am sure my landlord goes into my room and checks on my stuff. Creepo!

Anyway, I will keep you all informed about those Zara flats. I am 50% certain that I will be wearing Zara flats to death in the future, like my last pair (see here).

Have a lovely weekend!

Trip to Newsagency: Week 3 of 09

I was going to write my CV… I had promised myself to write my CV for a few months now and you know what? Contrarily, I just cannot get the November 2008 issue of Italian Elle out of my mind. What a storm it has created within me? Should I buy it or should I not? There are simply too many great images in it that I cannot bring myself to focus on other things and yet my newly purchased bookshelf is already stacked full with magazines. I have to tell someone, otherwise my CV will be completed in the next century. Here is what I love about this issue of Elle Italia:

Christian Dior Fall Haute Couture 2006 Paris

Although this fall show for Christian Dior’s Haute Couture Collection showcased only in July 2006, it already seems like a century ago in today’s hyper fast paced world of fashion. Despite that, because this video had been running on a loop on my real player this whole week, I feel like I have something to say about it and so here it goes. The show was simply spectacular! It had the glamorous and extravagant elements of a typical collection by designer John Galliano, but of course, pushed to the limit and showcased in max power that only makes us dream and dare for more.

  • Guard of Armour

This opening segment is undoubtedly my favorite for its fantastic elements to transform and bring the audience to the surreal exclusive world of Mr. Galliano’s pure magical creation. The first look that appeared on the runway was a black hourglass dress heavily bejewelled with metallic armour of the same colour worn by Swiss model Nadine Strittmatter along to a soundtrack that assists to create an eerie supernatural environment. As each note is sounded, this uncanny feeling is intensified. As a succession of models who almost seemed like cold-blooded guards with their hyperglamorous headdress and armour past by, one cannot help but notice each movement the girls make in this body-hugging dress and how the hips sway along rhythmically, as the gilded chain mail of the headdress clash together creating that distinct sound in the silence of the night amidst the Renaissance garden, which Mr. Galliano has created as the setting of this season’s show.

See thru

I had a dream a few nights ago. Probably because I watched this video, which showed a whole lot of people making their own version of “Charlie bit my finger again”. Maybe because of that, I dreamt of biting Ruslana’s finger. Then, a certain comrade saw it and extended his finger out.

Also in the same dream was this Yves Saint Laurent dress… see thru… Suddenly turned so shy…

Also from the collection are these amazing dresses:
