Cool in the Courtyard

Fudge vol. 22 May 2010.

Playing fashion. Slovenian model Marko Brozic enjoying his life in Prada.

Two of my favorite guys – Marko Brozic and Christopher Rayner – team up with soon-to-be-favourite-of-mine Nick R for this editorial from Fudge magazine’s May 2010 issue. Dressed in the season’s hottest buys from foreign high fashion labels as well as local talents by Stylist Marutani Naofumi, the boys look irresistibly cool chilling out in this picturesque courtyard. My ultimate favorite picture from this bunch of pictures by photographer Tokumaru Junichiro is no doubt Chris in the blindfold wearing a total look by Ann Demeulemeester. The composition of that picture from the pretty prickly epine black leather necklace to the obscured facial expression works flawlessly. This is definitely already listed as a favorite editorial of mine for the month.

In The Waiting Room… Waiting for Answers…

Mathias Lauridsen at Gucci Spring/Summer 2010 Milano

Danish model Mathias Lauridsen looking ever so charming in Gucci's gorgeous menswear collection.

Since I am a person of few words in real person and I know that I panic a lot when good things, bad things, anything happen to me, I have decided - rather than having a normal impromptu going-with-the-flow interview like most professional journalists, it is crucial for me to have a staged interview with Mathias (if I ever get the chance to meet him in person this life time), where I get the opportunity to interrogate him critically on all the questions in my life (except one). Here is a preview of how it’ll play out…

Y: Mathias! [Shrilling nervously in a high pitched voice] We are speechless… really! We had been dreaming about you ever since we saw that mesmerising picture of you for the Gucci pour homme II ad campaign, when we were young. Tell us please. How does it feel to be the man in so many girls’ dreams? Does it make you feel sick, paranoid or uneasy in any way at all?

M: …

Mad for Mathias?

So... I.. I... I apologize. I o-ogled you. Sorry.

So... I.. I... I apologize. I o-ogled you. Sorry.

Since I have received some accusations of being almost mental in regards to a certain delicious Dane, I have decided to make this one last post [for this month] on the above-mentioned person. Frankly, this has not been an easy decision for me, but please try to understand that this is crucial in terms of my mental growth and development – all the more so, because of the lack of brain activity going on when ogling in the presence of that unbelievably flawless Danish being. I hope you all respect my decision. This month will certainly be the most difficult time ever and I know time will pass in slower than slow motion; but who knows what the future might bring? His glorious comeback on blogyul could be just a step away… Perhaps just in time for Christmas? But for now, let’s take a long last look at those mesmerising blue eyes and get lost for one last time! Ahhh… Hypnotise me!

P.S. “So… I.. I… I apologize. I o-ogled you. Sorry.” is a quote from the film Stranger Than Fiction (2006).

Just bummin’ around

Strictly in your face!

Strictly in your face!

This is a true story and it happened a few days ago, while I was on the train. I don’t know if you are one of those people, but every time you get a seat on the train/subway, do you start thinking everything is going to be fine? Well… I am one of those people, but now I know I was wrong. It happened when I had sat comfortably and at peace on my seat for like at least a good 20 minutes. Deep asleep, I was completely off guard, but then, all of a sudden, we arrived at a stop; and this chatterbox housewife lady, who was standing perpendicularly next to me, suddenly remembered that this is her stop, so she quickly said goodbye to her friend and bent down to pick up her grocery bags. However, as she did so, her fat nice and rounded bum was right in my face. Ohhh… Thank god, she is not wearing this season’s ultra-mini-dresses! Otherwise, I don’t know what I should wash my eyes with to restore my vision ever again.

Spotted

Riding in car with Hanne

Riding in car with Hanne

@ Tsim Sha Tsui:

  • @ Miss Sixty: Collection looks very in trend with today; and in that way, everything seemed a little safe. Nonetheless, for women, we spotted a fierce jumpsuit with animalia print, black jacket with lavish fur sleeve – very Givenchy in appearance indeed – and a crazy graffiti bubble dress; for men, we liked the tie dye jumpers. It’s very cool!
  • @ Energie: Energie has power popeye Tees. 100% mighty cool!
  • @ Vivienne Westwood: Be outstanding and have wild fun wearing her leopard print multi-color-stripped dress!
  • @ Moussy: The Tees are so nice to touch. You just don’t want to stop touching it. Anyway, they also have some pants with a print that looks very much like Alexander McQueen’s signature dogtooth print. It’s a good alternative, but Moussy’ll never be the same as McQueen.
  • @ Y-3: Trompe l´oeil seems to be an ‘it’ thing in fashion these days. Y-3 also has Tees with those lively prints.
  • @ Lane Crawford: In love with green framed sunnies from Gucci and Prada.
  • @ Joyce: Love the beautiful cut in Damir Doma’s collection. It instantly makes me want to be a man!
  • @ Y’s Yohji Yamamoto: Sales staff at Y’s Yohji Yamamoto looked so super bored. *yawn yawn yawn*
  • @ Missoni. Saw a huge billboard with Hanne’s face. It made me feel like I was cruising freely with her away from the great flood of people and in the beautiful country side[1]. Oh… It makes me want their catalog/lookbook so badly, but they probably don’t have one for customers.
  • @ Dsquared: An instore event attracted lots of very important fashion people and  a handful of wannabes hanging instore and outside sipping bubbly champagne and enjoying the high life. Spotted woman wearing Givenchy open toe bootie and Balmain power pagoda shoulder jacket. She looked like a fashion victim.

Endnote:
[1] The campaign was shot at Floyd Bennett Airfield in Brooklyn, as revealed by Supreme Blog.

Rock me. I’m a Danish!

Would Mathias wear these?

Rock me, Mathias! You are Danish!

I don’t know about you, but each time, I go to any Gucci store, I just feel so self-conscious, not only because of the cougar-like stares from the super-cunning sales staff; but also, every time I catch a glimpse of Mathias walking the runway oh-so-seductively on their in-store TV screens, I just get all childish and cannot help but giggle ever so silly – creating an embarrassing series of mysterious-yet-hilarious stories for the sales staff to share over smoke breaks.

David & Goliath’s “Rock me. I’m a Danish” T-Shirt is one such fun Tee that arrouses such a silly smile on my face. Yes, Mathias looks nothing like the round donut – who apparently is the Awesome German Composer Mr. Mozart dressed like a Danish playing the electric keyboard oh-so-rock ‘n’ roll. However, you know what? Like a yummy Danish, Mathias just rocks and knocks me out each time he walks, he talks… Mmm…

Well… If I have to choose a Tee to reply his sweet loving gaze upon me, then, David & Goliath has this super adorable ”I’m so fawn of you” Tee.

Can’t believe Tees can actually say it all! Wow! The 21st Century!

Gucci Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 Milano

Natasha Poly, Anja Rubik and Freja Beha Erichsen in Gucci

Natasha Poly, Anja Rubik and Freja Beha Erichsen in Gucci

I had been thinking about Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2010 show for a week now. Surely, a show, with such a different approach, style and look as what creative designer Frida Giannini had been doing for her previously collections at the fabulous Italian fashion house, really needs some digesting. After further consideration, I came to the final conclusion that I like it. It’s fresh! It’s sleek! It’s sexy! Still super Gucci! Still super Frida! Still super Great!

Spiral Girl Metallic Silver Jeans

Spiral Girl Metallic Silver Jeans

Spiral Girl Metallic Silver Jeans

I know. I know. I know. Mums are the best! Not only do they know you the best, they also almost-always provide you with the best! Like a few weeks ago, my mum, the famous Mrs X., took me to i.t. sales, because she could not stand the severe extremity I was torturing my grey “black” Ksubi jeans. Well… Surely, you can predict what was doomed to happen thereafter. We came home with a little something extra. Something that shimmers a particularly shade of silver in the dark. Ahhh… It was fate! Here it is:

Gucci’s Glam Soldiers

Glamorous Gucci Soldiers On Display At Galeries Lafayette in Berlin

Glamorous Gucci Soldiers On Display At Galeries Lafayette in Berlin

Really liking Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2009/10 collection – even more so in real life! Every season, whether it is by Mr. Ford or Ms. Giannini, when I see their stock in the display window, it just moves me like a big surf. This season, it is fierce and glamorous! A combination I cannot say no to.

Gucci?

Yes, please!

Saturday June 27th, 2009

Spotted:

@ Lindtner, a “fine” food store: a fly circling the air above sultana bread and after 5 seconds, made a smooth landing then took off again.
@ Everywhere: Lots of people, not only hobos, looking into rubbish bin. Is that really a secret gold and diamond mine?
@ Busstop: Girl spraying perfume while driving. What a multi-task marvel?
@ S-Bahn: A guy, with blonde hair, dressed in chic creamy white suit with a huge canon camera around his neck. Have a feeling he is Mr. Satorialist because of the size of his camera. Is it?
@ Bus & In Bus: A French guy [1] who looks like a cross between Vinnie and Mathias, i.e. Vinnie’s face and Mathias’ haircut. A real gentleman, too, because he let me on the bus first – something that I have not done in Germany since I arrived actually. Awww…
@ Bus stop outside KaDeWe: Man with full length fur coat complete with a cowboy’s hat in the middle end of June.
@ Strenesse: All about tailoring and the magic touch!
@ St. Emile: Structures, colours and a conspicuous lightness.
@ Etro: Byzantium-inspired collection looks even better in real life, especially those delectable scarves. Exquisite details. Vibrant colours, vibrant life!
@ Somewhere in KaDeWe: The possible reason why a certain American label beginning with B is so affordable is because its quality is third rate.
@ Casualwear/KaDeWe: American vintage tank tops at 39.95 euros each – the ultimate price for wearing wrinkly and being cool.
@ KaDeWe: somebody [2] snatching catalogs/lookbooks, like a true thief.
@ Shoes/KaDeWe: Casadei’s towering chunky wedges with metallic lattice work, like YSL’s spring/summer 2009 IT shoes. Sales price at a whopping 479 euros.
@ Menswear floor: men getting their shoes polished. Something they like a lot for sure?
@ Perfume Floor: Had a Flora by Gucci accident. It all went on my fingers. A real stink.
@ Max & Co.: No (wo)man’s land! Who exactly are their customers anyway?
@ Bus stop: passed by woman with smoky voice like Carmen, thought it was a man; then took a glimpse: 100% Femme not even any signs of being a tranny.
@ M45 Bus: Invisible woman [3] getting squashed by American tourist, who is the same size as Homie [4].
@ Bus (again): a guy who looks like Maxxie from Skins – the exact same haircut. So cute!
@ Bus: man wearing Givenchy pour Homme perfume. Found him attractive by smell and wanted to kiss him, even though he is so macho.

[1] I know because a “French” couple conversed with him (for directions?) in what I believe is “French”. The guy from the couple looks strikingly like Mr. Sarkozy actually. Weird, huh?
[2] a.k.a me.
[3] This is me, too!
[4] This refers to Homer Simpson.
