The Midsummer Odyssey by But-Sou Lai
Last month, we brought to you Lane Crawford’s smashing Spring/Summer 2010 publication – The Portfolio featuring an exclusive editorial with the drop dead gorgeous Dree Hemingway. It would be completely wrong of me to the stylish crowd all over the world, if I don’t post the corresponding menswear publication, would it not? Well… Better late than never, here it comes.
For men, The Portfolio presents a thorough global trend report that shall not be missed. From Eastern Promises to Desert Storm, what is in now is in The Portfolio. The highlight of which for me is naturally the editorial entitled “The Midsummer Odyssey”. Amidst a raw and ramshackle building, photographer But-Sou Lai encapsulates the essence of the season: a marvelous mix of understated soft tailoring with utilitarianism, the vivacity of ethnic influences and modern artisan. The result illustrates the charm of a modern man in a plain and simply irresistible way.

Piercing eyes penetrate through our souls.
Even though the hottest ticket in town (a.k.a sales) is no longer valid at Lane Crawford, we are lured to step into the sweet-scented department store to discover the new season’s entrancing enticements up close and personal, while attempting to meet the ever so impeccable Ms. Sarah Rutson serendipitously and intimately for the trillionth time. The first and foremost origin of this forbidden temptation is none other than a sneak peek of the drop dead sexy Spring/Summer 2010 Ad campaign, entitled “The Portfolio”.

GIVENCHY for LANE CRAWFORD Symmetrical Print Tee
Although final sales is neigh at Lane Crawford and that we should really only go nuts and purchase propitious sales items; we spotted one terrific item that made us break our wallet: Givenchy for Lane Crawford’s Symmetrical Print T-Shirt (HK$1,800) – available at Lane Crawford’s IFC Mall and Pacific Place stores. Designed by Creative Director Riccardo Tisci, this limited edition Tee exhibits an indifferent air with its eccentric graphics inspired by North Africa and the Italian Renaissance, as shown on the runway this Spring/Summer 2010. 100 T-shirts are to be distributed worldwide. So make sure you snap it quick and not become its star-crossed lover.

Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy
Although between Robert and I, we could make a million cheeky jokes about Givenchy’s new fragrance ad campaign for Eaudemoiselle (starting with whether the perfume should be named “eaudepond” or in the park “avec la cape de vampire”?); we know that seriously speaking: we love this daunting and haunting photograph of Polish model Magdalena Frackowiak by Liz Collins (and that above all, we secretly want Magda to bite us intensely and passionately!). The campaign perfectly portrays Givenchy’s dark yet romantic style, while exemplifying the French House’s core aristocratic values as well as its couture spirit as founded by couturier Hubert de Givenchy. Rose is accordingly the chief composition of Eaudemoiselle to create the imagery of “flower bathed in morning dew”.
Get ready! Eaudemoiselle is set to release in the first half of 2010.

Russian model Sasha Pivovarova for H&M Fall 2009
This happened yesterday, after a long day of ogling some really really beyond great pieces from a lot of different labels, like Acne, Neil Barrett, Lanvin, Raf Simons, Rick Owens, Givenchy and etc. We finally made our way to H&M to buy the things we could truly afford and steal obtain three copies of H&M magazine on the way (Mmm… Marina Linchuk in underwear!).
The store at the time was as usual crowded with a swamp of people and amongst which, we spotted a woman, with a larger-than-her Miu Miu paper bag under her arm, struggling to squeeze through the rather tightly spaced racks in the sea of people to check out a particular extraordinaire of her taste. The sight of it was so ridiculously hilarious that it poked out my mean bone, as I spoke to my friend in English thinking that the “glamorous” owner of the fore-mentioned label would not understand a word coming from a certain blabber mouth, which spoke inconsiderately of her daring cynical thoughts: some stuff hailing from a certain peachy-pink label is just made of 100% cheese. Just as the word “overrated” was emphasised, the woman suddenly turned to look at us, took flight in a rather slapdash fashion and was gone with her overpowering big bag of goodies in a matter of microseconds. Well… Walls have ears and without the walls, oops…

Gorgeous Greatness from Givenchy
If it’s not because of Russian model Anna Selezneva, I would have totally missed this hidden treasure and above all, important detail from the stylish French fashion house Givenchy: an extra strap, which goes around the heel of those gorgeous Holly strappy leather sandals (Above right £717.39) to make them truly exceptionally extraordinary. Well… Need I say more? Hardcore glamour has never been more explicitly expressed. Browsing on net-a-porter later on, my two eyes separated paranormally, as if I have landed in an extraterrestrial cyberspace, when I sighted the 8th and 9th wonder of the world. Instantaneously, one eye was glued to those lovely Bianco leather boots (Above left £652.17) and the other fixed on the extravagant choice: an exquisite pair of leather crocodile-print sandals (Above middle £717.39). Well… Obviously, in order to keep me sane at all times, these three pairs are absolute essentials! Available at net-a-porter now.

Men's Boots from Givenchy Fall 2009 Collection
How many times have I heard boys saying how they want to be girls, so that they could wear all those pretty dresses? Well… Guys, you could take that back! With Givenchy’s great assortment of to-die-for boots for fall/winter 2009/10 – all thanks to creative designer Riccardo Tisci - boys would want to be boys and girls would want to be boys boys boysss!
Thigh hi boots are a major trend for womenwear this fall/winter; and Mr. Tisci certainly made sure the boys don’t miss out the fun by offering a delectable range with a terrific bandage design that is horrifically bewitching. My favorite pair has to be the one with the sparkly spangled fabric in navy blue or midnight black.
For people, who have a fear of extreme heights, Mr. Tisci created an awesome assortment of ankle boots in the same stunning style. The colour palette of the ankle boot collection extends from the dark zone to mummy’s beige! Mama mia! If this does not satisfy my monstrous appetite for shoes, then, god knows the earth must be spinning topsy turvy?
Shown in the picture above from top left to bottom right are:
- Ankle boots in black spangled fabric with leather trim
- Ankle boots in beige leather trimmed with beige elastic bandage
- Thigh boots in navy blue shiny leather trimmed with elastic bandages
- Ankle boots in navy blue fabric with leather trim
- Ankle boots in black shiny leather trimmed with black elastic bandage
Available at Givenchy stores, worldwide.

Riding in car with Hanne
@ Tsim Sha Tsui:
- @ Miss Sixty: Collection looks very in trend with today; and in that way, everything seemed a little safe. Nonetheless, for women, we spotted a fierce jumpsuit with animalia print, black jacket with lavish fur sleeve – very Givenchy in appearance indeed – and a crazy graffiti bubble dress; for men, we liked the tie dye jumpers. It’s very cool!
- @ Energie: Energie has power popeye Tees. 100% mighty cool!
- @ Vivienne Westwood: Be outstanding and have wild fun wearing her leopard print multi-color-stripped dress!
- @ Moussy: The Tees are so nice to touch. You just don’t want to stop touching it. Anyway, they also have some pants with a print that looks very much like Alexander McQueen’s signature dogtooth print. It’s a good alternative, but Moussy’ll never be the same as McQueen.
- @ Y-3: Trompe l´oeil seems to be an ‘it’ thing in fashion these days. Y-3 also has Tees with those lively prints.
- @ Lane Crawford: In love with green framed sunnies from Gucci and Prada.
- @ Joyce: Love the beautiful cut in Damir Doma’s collection. It instantly makes me want to be a man!
- @ Y’s Yohji Yamamoto: Sales staff at Y’s Yohji Yamamoto looked so super bored. *yawn yawn yawn*
- @ Missoni. Saw a huge billboard with Hanne’s face. It made me feel like I was cruising freely with her away from the great flood of people and in the beautiful country side[1]. Oh… It makes me want their catalog/lookbook so badly, but they probably don’t have one for customers.
- @ Dsquared: An instore event attracted lots of very important fashion people and a handful of wannabes hanging instore and outside sipping bubbly champagne and enjoying the high life. Spotted woman wearing Givenchy open toe bootie and Balmain power pagoda shoulder jacket. She looked like a fashion victim.
Endnote:
[1] The campaign was shot at Floyd Bennett Airfield in Brooklyn, as revealed by Supreme Blog.
