Desert Kings

Fantastic Man - Super Sartorial Summer

Bastiaan Ninaber, Vincent Lacrocq and Ryan Barrett in H&M

Is it just me? Or is this Fantastic Man editorial entitled Super Sartorial Summer proclaiming its love for affordable mens fashion in the most blatant way ever? The heroes of the editorial – Bastiaan Ninaber, Vincent Lacrocq and Ryan Barrett – are photographed by Benjamin Alexander Huseby in a sharp selection from the Swedish fashion chain H&M. Doing those strong manly poses of theirs in unison by the picturesque desert location overlooking the endless blue ocean, one cannot help but sense that this summer promises to be hot and cool at the same time.

Peter Jensen Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection

Peter Jensen Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection

Victoria Tuaz wears Peter Jensen Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection.

It’s not every day that I fall madly in love with a fashion label in a matter of micro seconds, but it certainly looks like this is such a shameless case today. Namely, Peter Jensen’s Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection is simply fantastic! Running high on the innovation factor, the Danish-born designer’s signature is his mischievous touch on each piece of the collection creating something slightly twisted, but always youthful and super refined.

French model Tom Nicon wears Lad Musician's Joy Division inspired T

Warning! Warning! Hot new arrival alert! Available at Lad Musician’s web store and one pair is this set of über-cool Joy Division inspired Tees by Japanese label Lad Musician. Capturing the essence of the English rock band’s spirit in print, this set of must-have cotton Tees comes in three wild prints – all of which shows off an edgy side of a guy in an effortless way. Prices range from ¥ 8,400 to ¥ 8,820. Frankly speaking, I am losing control over the U-neck Sharp Hem Line Tees. Can’t wait to put my claws all over it!

The Individualist(s) by Luise&Franck Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Tokyo

The Individualist(s) by Luise&Franck

Commencing with a distinctively dark soundtrack of “Shake that devil” by the band Antony And The Johnsons, German designer Luise Schwarze and French designer Franck Pouchoulin’s collection for their label The Individualist(s) place a focus on the idea of lost time, as a man looks back to his lost childhood and reminisce the feeling of being free and protected.

Céline Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Paris

Céline Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 Paris

Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Carla Gebhart and Jaquelyn Jablonski in Céline

One sleepy “morning”, my friend woke me up from my most wanted and most needed beauty sleep to tell me to urgently check out Garance Dore’s video of Céline’s show. At first, I was doubtful. I mean was it really that powerful, that worthy to disrupt the most valued activity of my day? Moreover, does it truly live up to all the hypes and expectations? Well… Well… Well… To my surprise, Ms. Philo’s show for Céline was indeed everything of the above description and even more.

Alexis Mabille Spring/Summer Haute Couture 2010 Paris

Marlenz Szoka, Maria Kashleva and Suzie Bird in Alexis Mabille Haute Couture 2010

Marlena Szoka, Maria Kashleva and Suzie Bird in Alexis Mabille Haute Couture 2010

Alexis Mabille’s Spring/Summer Haute Couture show 2010 is certainly something that I did not expect to see at first glance. No frills. No pretty bows. No lace. The show opened with Belarusian model Olga Sherer dressed in the French designer’s bi-colour pant suit look. As oppose to what the Lyon-born designer had been doing famously, this is certainly something new and fresh.

dolce-gabbana-spring-summer-catalog-2010-07

Kamila Filipcikova, Denisa Dvorakova, Heloise Guerin, Diana Meszaros and Zuzana Gregorova show off Dolce & Gabbana's Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

Dolce & Gabbana returns to its root with a drop dead sexy collection for Spring/Summer 2010. Shown by Zuzana Gregorova, Kamila Filipcikova, Georgina Stojiljkovic, Tanya Dziahileva, Denisa Dvorakova, Heloise Guerin and veteran Diana Meszaros, the collection is modern yet chic and everlastingly elegant. Many iconic Dolce & Gabbana motives are reworked. This includes the infamous leopard prints, which made a blissful appearance in its original shade as well as red and blue. Floral prints filled the air with a fresh sweet scent, while trims of black lace add a touch of mystery to the alluring collection. Furthermore, the collection features handfuls of black outfits adorned with dazzling oversized jewels, which makes these lavish looks all the more truly and utterly irresistible!

Viktor & Rolf Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Paris

Danish model Mathias Lauridsen shows off Viktor & Rolf's Fall/Winter 2010/11 Collection

Danish model Mathias Lauridsen shows off Viktor & Rolf's Fall/Winter 2010/11 Collection

Entitled “Paint It Black”, Dutch designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren’s men’s show took its cue from the infamous Rolling Stones song. Influenced by the remarkable English Rock Band, the colour palette of the collection is naturally tainted with almighty blackness; yet the attitude and the final look are true blue royal and loyal to the Amsterdam-based fashion house. Namely, each model appears like an exact replica of Mr. Horsting and Mr. Snoeren exhibiting the designers’ signature quirky and cool style.

If I Lay Here in Stella McCartney’s Lingerie…

French model Morgane Dubled shows off Stella McCartney’s Lingerie Collection Fall/Winter 2009

French model Morgane Dubled shows off Stella McCartney’s Lingerie Collection Fall/Winter 2009

Each season, I look at Stella McCartney’s lingerie collection and it has never let me down. Stella has definitely convinced me that wearing granny’s high-waisted underwear is actually cool. Although she has gradually moved on from grandma’s undies in terms of conceptual designs, her understated collections remain sensual and alluring.
