Balmain’s Fall Guy

Danish model Adrian Bosch in Balmain Fall/Winter 2010 Lookbook

Balmain! Balmain! Balmain! It drives me insane! With Kristian Akergren, Richie Cotterell, Tristan Knights and last but not least, Adrian Bosch as the cast for its Fall 2010 lookbook, I am falling super hot over my heels. Rugged and raw, designer Christophe Decarnin shows us how unbelievably edgy yet powerfully sophisticated the Balmain man is. Infusing a fresh wave of nautical influences into the collection and mixing it with an invigorating grunge element, we certainly sense a fresh breeze bracing the Balmain look. Hell yeah! It’s not that hard to see that Balmain’s Fall guy is an all around cool guy!

COS Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010

COS Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010 - Illustration by Pieter de Groot

In our book, COS is a genuine charmer no matter what and which direction the team chooses to go for a little style adventure! For Spring/Summer 2010, it remains no different in our eyes. Regardless of these distorted illustrations by the phenomenally talented Pieter de Groot, all we see in it is well-cut wonders in its most monstrously exaggerated form.

GQ Style Germany’s Winning Editorial

GQ Style Germany #17: The Winner

Adrian Bosch is the Winner!

I don’t usually do blogposts about editorials. However, when it comes to GQ Style Germany’s latest editorial, I just can’t resist. Styled by the talented Klaus Stockhausen, a handful of the hottest male models of the moment (Adrian Bosch, Beck Brendon, Christian Brylle, Collin Tennant, Gen Huisman, Gerhard Freidl, Gordon Bothe, Lasse Pederson, Matvey Lykov, Nikola Jovanovic, Oskar Landstrom, Paris Nicholson and Tim Boot) are captured showing off their winning looks in an editorial entitled “The Winner”. Photographer Giampaolo Sgura seized this historic moment perfectly through his creative lens and presents this triumphant time in print right in front of our very eyes.

Bruuns Bazaar’s New Stars

Adrian Bosch and Anna Selezneva for Bruuns Bazaar Copenhagen Fall/Winter 2010/11 Ad Campaign

Bruuns Bazaar's new force for Fall 2010

Could this be true? Dansk Daily recently released a pic of Bruuns Bazaar’s Fall/Winter 2010/11 Ad campaign and guess what? Our favourite Bruuns Bazaar models – Carmen Kass and Mathias Lauridsen – are missing. I mean Carmen had been in the Danish label’s ad campaign since 2007 and Mathias since Fall 2008 (see here). Ever since then, these two had been inseparable as Bruuns Bazaar’s perfect couple. Well… On the one hand, we are missing this heaven made match, yet we are really enjoying this pic of Anna Selezneva with Adrian Bosch. Fresh and romantic, it captures morning beauty so extraordinarily! This could certainly be the commencement of a brand new spark and we certainly cannot wait to see more!

Storm is “brylling”!

Danish model Christian Brylle in Uniqlo's Spring Summer 2010 Denim Collection

Danish model Christian Brylle looking like a scrumptious piece of Crème brûlée in Uniqlo’s Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

Oh dear Christian, not just any Christian, but THE Christian who totally turns Robert mad inside out on account of a drop-dead-gorgeous girl named Sheila,

Was it really you who walked by me swiftly in Shibuya on those baffling streets near Parco Department Store in the afternoon of Monday 29 March 2010? Should I have yelled out “kris-chuhn” the good old American way? Or should I have whispered the name “Chris-ti-an” alluringly – replicating the remarkably fancy articulation as of those highly sophisticated and seductive Christian Dior TV ads? Namely, I just have no idea how so ever to pronounce Christian in Danish. Considering this is a once in a life time opportunity, I suppose saying it in Danish would have helped to make identification immensely effective, even though I know you speak English perfectly well.

The snappy glance I caught of you amongst misty fogs of people on those infamously crowded streets of Tokyo failed ever so tragically to certify your identity. However, I did sense the sexy swishy movement of your silky almost-shoulder length hair as well as that evidently edgy androgynous vibe through the clouds of people as you marched uphill at the miraculous speed of lightning. Oh, that’s the very same aura I get from you, whenever I see streetstyle pics of your mighty honour! How your presence has transformed me into a numb and utterly speechless dummy? By that, I am confident to say that I am 80±10% sure it was you and only you that day.

Why didn’t I pretend to have been under some sort of influence, which disrupted my navigational skills and caused a head on collision into you – faking or not faking a major injury? Maybe then the cliché boy-meets-girl love story plot will follow, so that I could happily rob Rob’s pain right off his ass. Wouldn’t that be nice? Well… Shame you speeded off like a Ferrari on its tracks. I guess not everybody can be Robert Kubica Michael Schumacher. Well… if you need oil, tyre or girlfriend changes, I am happy to be at your service.

Yours most lovingly,
-just a passerby-

Chloé Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Paris

Chloé Spring Summer Ready to wear 2010 Collection Paris

Freja Beha Erichsen, Raquel Zimmermann and Magdalena Frackowiak in Chloé Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

Perhaps it’s the golden rays she sends out each season at Chloé, I’m actually warming up to Hannah MacGibbon – Creative Director of the French Luxury Fashion House. Well… It’s not the most avant-garde show I have ever seen, but nonetheless, it’s delightful and it’s desirable! With this winning combination, I am confident that Chloé’s financial matters will be enjoying quite a pleasant ride in the forthcoming fall.

Céline Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Paris

Céline Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 Paris

Caroline Brasch Nielsen, Carla Gebhart and Jaquelyn Jablonski in Céline

One sleepy “morning”, my friend woke me up from my most wanted and most needed beauty sleep to tell me to urgently check out Garance Dore’s video of Céline’s show. At first, I was doubtful. I mean was it really that powerful, that worthy to disrupt the most valued activity of my day? Moreover, does it truly live up to all the hypes and expectations? Well… Well… Well… To my surprise, Ms. Philo’s show for Céline was indeed everything of the above description and even more.

Selected is Selected!

Eddie Klint and Jacquelyn Jablonski stares in Selected Spring/Summer 2010 Ad campaign.

Eddie Klint teams up with All American beauty Jacquelyn Jablonski in Selected’s ad campaign this Spring/Summer 2010. Heading the ad campaign for the Copenhagen-based fashion label a second time, Mr. Klint looks confident and cool – like the man we all die to hang out with. The collection shows off an amazing array of easy peasy pieces in neutral shades that look smart and stylish. What I felt is the key to this collection is this sense of serenity, harmony and romance – these elements come together complementarily in a way that felt natural yet luxurious. Inevitably, sweet love is in the air!

In The Waiting Room… Waiting for Answers…

Mathias Lauridsen at Gucci Spring/Summer 2010 Milano

Danish model Mathias Lauridsen looking ever so charming in Gucci's gorgeous menswear collection.

Since I am a person of few words in real person and I know that I panic a lot when good things, bad things, anything happen to me, I have decided - rather than having a normal impromptu going-with-the-flow interview like most professional journalists, it is crucial for me to have a staged interview with Mathias (if I ever get the chance to meet him in person this life time), where I get the opportunity to interrogate him critically on all the questions in my life (except one). Here is a preview of how it’ll play out…

Y: Mathias! [Shrilling nervously in a high pitched voice] We are speechless… really! We had been dreaming about you ever since we saw that mesmerising picture of you for the Gucci pour homme II ad campaign, when we were young. Tell us please. How does it feel to be the man in so many girls’ dreams? Does it make you feel sick, paranoid or uneasy in any way at all?

M: …

RIP, Alexander McQueen!

Nils Lawton in Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2010/11

Nils Lawton in Alexander McQueen Fall/Winter 2010/11

Reading Russian writer Alexander Pushkin’s historical novel The Captain’s Daughter, we found a folk song, which painfully introduces us to the reality of life discussed in today’s post. It goes:

“If you find one better than me, you will forget me;
if you find one worse than me, you will remember me.” [link]
