Jessica Stam Music Video

While Yulya is on hiatus, I want to keep Blogyul warm with this incredible video.  It’s years old and has less than 20 thousand hits so far.  How is that possible?  This is one of the coolest Stammy souvenirs ever!

Clothe Yourselves with Love from Chloé

Pre-fall 2010. Available at Bergdorf Goodman

Canadian model Alana Zimmer wears Chloé wool sweater dress

I just adore this Chloé wool sweater dress (USD$1,385.00). I love its simplicity and how it exudes a kind of idyllic beauty through its feline form and understated design. Made in Italy, every inch of this gray ribbed merino wool dress – from its simple half sleeves, its wonderful waffle-knit cuffs detail to its beautiful Ballerina neckline with multicolor diamond-shaped beading – is simply divine. Without a doubt, this pretty grey dress would be a great buy of pre-fall 2010 till the day I hit the graves.

Ann Demeulemeester Off The Runway

Marcel Castenmiller opening Ann Demeulemeester's Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Show in Paris

Excuse me, please! How many times have you seen an Ann Demeulemeester Model working in an Ann Demeulemeester store?

In the many years I have lived on this planet as a fashion conscious mortal, I have actually never soiled an über-cool Ann Demeulemeester store by setting foot in it. Well… Thank god that became history! Last week, as I was slowly but surely making my way from showroom to showroom, I was forced to make a detour, as a result of passing a comely Ann Demeulemeester window display. It invited me in so courteously in that strikingly silent way that it would be simply rude not to accept.

One of the things that truly startled me as I stepped foot in the ultra-urban shop is perhaps the number of black outfits on display. It honestly amazed me how infinitely creative Ms. Demeulemeester is, as she comes up with incredibly innovative and understatedly powerful designs using my favourite colour season after season. Amidst this dark romantism stood the friendly sales rep., who waited patiently to serve when required. Setting eyes on him was certainly a horrible move on my part, as I was unable to take them off him. Upon eye contact, his look simply took my breath away and made me speechless like a low-graded mannequin on display. As I held my mouth open starring at him positively in shock, the moment became more and more impossible to endure. Thankfully, my shopping-partner-in-crime dragged me away from it all before I exploded.

Only when I came back home (not the hotel room), did I recover from this extremely embarrassing event and realise that he made me react most undesirably in public, because he – with his raw yet refined and romantic looks - appears exactly like an Ann Demeulemeester model working in an Ann Demeulemeester store. OK! This concept may sound logical to you, but how many times have you seen that in real life? From runway to reality, the ineffable question in my lips finally blunted out: “Did you descend on earth straight off the runway?” Well… I don’t think I need an answer to that.

I knew…

Rick Owens Rocks

Rick Owen Really Rocks!

Rick Owens Really Rocks!

Plugging the words straight out of the Canadian model Alana Zimmer from a modelinia video, we have the remarkable rhetorical question: “Who doesn’t love a Rick Owens jacket?” Indeed, who doesn’t? Pumped with style yet never robbing individuality, the notable avante-garde American designer’s clothes celebrates glamour and grunge in an all-natural non-chalant way that bubbles in high-voltage coolness to its core. Right now, in our must-buy list are his jaw-dropping brilliant jackets from the Rick Owens Lilies line. The shape and the cut are two details that we fall deeply for. Presented in the picture above from left to right are:

Available online at luisaviaroma.com and in Joyce Boutique and Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.

E…events!

Canadian Model Jessica Stam shows off Christian Diors Makeup Holiday Collection 2009

Canadian Model Jessica Stam shows off Christian Diors Makeup Holiday Collection 2009

This is an elaboration on my last post in regards to making a fool out of myself in front of the ever so smart ‘n’ chic Chanel sales staff. For example: four weeks ago or so, I asked the flawless ladies at the makeup counter whether they sell that exquisite miniature cage, which Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana holds oh-so-divinely in the Chanel Christmas 2009 ad campaign. The paranormal look, which I found on her face, was certainly not the answer I was looking for. If Lanvin sells gorgeous porcelain dolls and Christian Dior hypnotises us with super striking Stam and the exquisite Swarovski crystal encrusted lipgloss/pendant; why does Chanel stay so everlastingly classical in terms of packaging the cosmetic line for special occasions like Christmas? Well… Afterall, it comes once a year only, no? Just a thought.

Marchesa Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 New York

Masha Markina, Laine Rogova and Svieta Nemkova in Marchesa, New York.

Masha Markina, Laine Rogova and Svieta Nemkova in Marchesa, New York.

A lot of people seem to have the perception that Marchesa only had one big bang in fashion and that was when the high-end American label was first established by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig in 2004. Since then, it stayed in the same spot. Well… Despite what everyone says, I still like their pretty collections. It’s hard not to find it irresistible, no?

Hussein Chalayan Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 Paris

Russian Model Anna Gushina in Hussein Chalayan Beehived-shaped sunnies

Russian Model Anna Gushina in Hussein Chalayan Beehive-shaped sunnies

I must admit: I was extremely surprised when I found out Hussein Chalayan’s collection this season did not contain any loud messages concerning mother earth. I guess if this collection was to visit that familiar ground in the same sort of explosive way as previously, it would seem tedious and tiring, so I am glad he took a break from that. Nonetheless, this collection is still a delight with a load of avant-garde trends that will surely become the heart of fashion’s ‘it’ trend next season.

Luella Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 London

Nichola Cyzy, Frida Gustavsson and Shu Pei Qin in Luella

Nichola Cyzy, Frida Gustavsson and Shu Pei Qin in Luella

Honestly, there was one point in my life when I feel that I am too old to wear Luella. So undoubtedly, during that time, my virtual life on the web became Luella-less. However, today, when I ponder upon pictures from Luella’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, I came to that point of realisation: Luella might be cute and sweet and prim and proper, but that does not mean she is monotonous or age-specific at all. Namely, cute and sweet and prim and proper are not priviledged to young girls only, because the Luella girl is full of life and pleasant surprises.
