Russian Model Anna Gushina in Hussein Chalayan Beehive-shaped sunnies
I must admit: I was extremely surprised when I found out Hussein Chalayan’s collection this season did not contain any loud messages concerning mother earth. I guess if this collection was to visit that familiar ground in the same sort of explosive way as previously, it would seem tedious and tiring, so I am glad he took a break from that. Nonetheless, this collection is still a delight with a load of avant-garde trends that will surely become the heart of fashion’s ‘it’ trend next season.

What a dark solemn-yet-romantic display at Miu Miu this season? It looked like every girl who stepped out onto the showroom floor had an unspeakable sorrow hidden beneath her bleak lifeless eyes, which betrayed her identity as an absolutely impeccably refined woman. The season was spring/summer 2003. That was the season when I first discovered the magical fantastic world of Fashion and you know what? Cacharel was one of the first houses that I first loved. At least 5 whole years have passed and lots have occurred to my life as well as within the France-based fashion house with the change of appointment in creative director twice. Although Cacharel has been quite quiet recently, evident of this is that the collections have unfortunately not been featured on style.com since Spring/Summer 2003 (link), the house does not cease to produce things that I simply adore.

Just as I was wondering what could possibly outshine that spectacular show from last season, the fireworks have already been lighted. The Yves Saint Laurent show has officially begun! Frankly speaking, I simply do not know where to start. The show was just amazing – ultra Parisian yet very Pilati in all ways! For me, as each look emerged on the slideshow on style.com, it came to me like a succession of seawaves – very soothing yet each look was so unique and ultimately extremely overwhelming!
The black trend has been going on for a while now. To move away from the darkness of the past, this season’s black comes in a twist that intertwines classicism with orientalist modernism and strikes in max power! Evident of this is the first look at the Yves Saint Laurent show worn by the Martinique-born model Sigrid Agren (Elite). Wearing a black midriff top, a matching finely-tailored skirt and a coat, the look has been tailored to meet the high standards of Parisian chic, elegance and luxury but at the same emitting a sexual sensual refinement that is quintescential and at the same time also modern and very today. Ultimately, that is another very brave move on the part of Creative Designer of the French Luxury House Stefano Pilati. As the iconic French actress Catherine Deneuve said after the show, it was a simple display of “everything but vulgar”.
