Canadian models Shalom Harlow and Owen Steuart are the powerful faces for Joop!’s Fall/Winter 2008/09 ad campaign. This is a little strange for me, because with Shalom as the face, it just feels like a Tiffany & Co. ad. I am not saying that Tiffany & Co. owns Shalom, but only because she is such a notorious model for Tiffany & Co., who possesses a seemingly boundless budget and places their ads more internationally than Joop!.

Bruuns Bazaar: bizarre and the best!
Robert must be mad with me. I know I would if somebody promised me they would do something and they did not. Well… I promised poor Robert that I would fill his presently depressing life with everything Bruuns Bazaar using a strings of carefully selected words about 2 months ago. Unfortunately, a few things came up, like I had to do an English exam and that I was sadly trapped in the World of the Sims 2, so that I was unable to complete most of my pre-set tasks.
Well… No more excuses. Now is the time.
Bruuns Bazaar is a Danish fashion label established in 1995 in Copenhagen by two brothers: Teis and Bjørn Bruun. The label produces womenswear, menswear, accessories and eyewear and is considered as a true pioneer of the Scandinavian fashion scene. 14 years have gone by since its establishment and today, Bruuns Bazaar has 16 stores in Europe and is sold in more than 1000 stores in 30 countries. If that does not show its success in the market, who knows?

Zeki Triko Lingerie Collection 2008/09
Despite the fact that the Turkish designer Ziko Başeskioğlu has created some of the sexiest swimwear and lingerie worn by the hottest models in the industry over the 51 years since its establishment, Zeki Triko is perhaps still not a familiar name like its American counterpart: Victoria’s Secret.

Dansk #20 Winter 2008: Coco Rocha

Coco Rocha in Dansk Magazine Winter 2008 by Hasse Nielsen
When I saw it on the rack, I did not feel so much for it. No matter how ‘versatile’ she might be, Coco was not where my love is. I just did not seem to adore her or worship her the way that I do when it comes to other mmm… models (Wink! wink! Magda! Wink! Wink! Mathias!).

Dial ‘M’ for mmm… Magda!

Polish model Magdalena Frackowiak wears white men's collar by PRADA; nun's habit from ANGELS.
Quote from “Backstage, It’s Down to Bare Essentials” by Guy Trebay of nytimes:
Polish model Magdalena Frackowiak wandered into view in a G-string and with her arms modestly wrapped around her bare torso. “I was raised as a small kid in the theater,” explained Ms. Frackowiak, who just turned 24. “So, for me, doing modeling is a little bit like being in a play. And being backstage is like every backstage, where you’re changing costumes and you have to be nude and so what?”
You need to undress to dress, no?

Trip to Newsagency: Week 3 of 09

German model Christina Kruse on the cover of Elle Italia November 2008 by Matt Jones.
I was going to write my CV… I had promised myself to write my CV for a few months now and you know what? Contrarily, I just cannot get the November 2008 issue of Italian Elle out of my mind. What a storm it has created within me? Should I buy it or should I not? There are simply too many great images in it that I cannot bring myself to focus on other things and yet my newly purchased bookshelf is already stacked full with magazines. I have to tell someone, otherwise my CV will be completed in the next century. Here is what I love about this issue of Elle Italia:

Chloé Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2008/09 Paris

Seasonal Greeting love from Chloé 2009
I do not know whether I should feel lucky or not, as I am one of the ‘few’ people who have received an exclusive new year seasonal greeting with love from Chloé for 2009. There are two reasons for my hesitancy:
- Chloé does not seem to produce a lookbook/catalog to send to their customers and most importantly their potential customers
- Swedish designer Paulo Melim Andersson – one amongst my ‘short’ list of adorned designers – is no longer creative director at the french label

Dear Diary,
Today, I am so happy, because you know what happened? I bought V55 and French Revue de Modes #13! What a surprise? If you could recall, I did declare my desire to own V55 back in October (link). I thought I missed those issues, but it turned out they just arrived late to my store. Phew… Best of all, my favorite covers were available, because V Magazine feature 14 covers this fall/winter 08/09, which are [1]:
- Eniko Mihalik
- Malgosia Bela
- Anna Selezneva
- Daria Werbowy
- Frankie Rayder
- Abbey Lee Kershaw
- Natasha Poly
- Sunniva Stordahl
- Christy Turlington
- Agyness Deyn
- Naomi Campbell
- Lara Stone
- Anja Rubik
- Eva Herzigova
whereas French Revue de Modes #13 features 13 different covers, which include:
- Abbey Lee Kershaw
- Karlie Kloss
- Ali Stephens
- Ksenia Kahnovich
- Olga Sherer
- Regina Feoktistova
- Polina Barbasova
- Rachel Clarck
- Arlenis
- Yulia Kharlapanova, Nicole Kasper and Sarah Stephens
- Eniko Mihailik
- Coco Rocha
- Sarah Stephens
What I had not foreseen in October is that I never would have thought I would become a ‘fan’ of the Australian model Abbey Lee. As a result of this new passionate flame, a war struck instantaneously in the so-called organ within my body called “brain” when I saw the two issues of V55 – Ms. Kershaw vs. Ms. Selezneva – stacked rather scruffily on the shelf, each of them alluring me to take them home with their wildly insanely framed good looks. After a 15-mins or so struggle, during which the vendor of the ‘brain’ just stood still with one eye fixed upon the aussie rebel and the other at the russian babe, Ms. Selezneva won as originally planned, only because her face is better positioned on the cover.
After that difficult selection, I barely had any energy to move even though I had been standing still at one spot. Perhaps this is because many braincells had been working hyper-actively previously. Thank god that the choice of French was made so easy: only two copies of Ksenia were left. I just had to choose one that is in perfect condition… and well… that took another 10 minutes.
But it’s worth it, as you can see below, they are looking good at my home, no?

Mmm... made in Russia
I just want to thank the lord for answering my prayers. I will treasure them for sure. See you tomorrow soon [2]!
Yours,
-Yul X-
Endnotes:

[2] Sorry, you probably will not see me for awhile, as I would be studying them so hard. Well… See you soon!

Luella Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2008/09 London
Rusya told me she was going to Luella today and since the Fall/Winter collection is currently in store, it seemed like a good idea to have a closer look at the collection so that it comes more naturally in terms of dropping Luella-related hints.

exotique
Remember in October 2008, we saw Carmen’s cover for W Korea November 2008 (link). Well… it has taken us 2 whole months to see the entire editorial and you know what? It’s good stuff.
In it, Ms Kass wears some of the most luxurious fur pieces of the season paired along with exotic animals. The whole set exudes an air of mystery with a hidden sense of fierceness, danger and dark sexual power. Even though Carmen only has a total of 7 pics in it, it is definitely an issue worth buying.
