Roar! Retired rockers really rock!
Fashion is falling fast for the fantastic menswear label Umit Benan. For Fall/Winter 2010/11, the Milan-based designer’s “Retired rockers” collection is receiving rave reviews and really – how could it not? Retired and still rocking it, the collection is not only every modern manly man’s dream, but also reflects what women find enticing in a man. Inspired by Cuban hedonism, the collection reveals that confident, tough and brutally honest attitude of a dare devil. It is slightly rough around the edges, but naturally refined and irresistible! Mark Cox in Prada Spring/Summer 2010
To be perfectly honest with you all, this season, I am more in love with Prada’s menswear line than with its womenswear collection. A walk through the brightly-lit store space complete with racks and racks of spring/summer goodies, this feeling just intensifies even more so. If I could, I would have certainly done a grabsweep-and-run, regardless of whether the pieces actually flatter me or not. Well… Yes, sir, yes! I’m crazy! I’m crazy in love!

Danish model Mathias Lauridsen looking ever so charming in Gucci's gorgeous menswear collection.
Since I am a person of few words in real person and I know that I panic a lot when good things, bad things, anything happen to me, I have decided - rather than having a normal impromptu going-with-the-flow interview like most professional journalists, it is crucial for me to have a staged interview with Mathias (if I ever get the chance to meet him in person this life time), where I get the opportunity to interrogate him critically on all the questions in my life (except one). Lenz von Johnston, Clement Chabernaud and Danny Schwarz in Versace Uomo Spring Summer Ready-to-wear 2010
I just love Versace’s show, because it’s not for every man. It’s for hot man only! For Spring/Summer 2010, Donatella Versace presented a light collection that is sleek, sophisticated and so so so super sexy. The colours used range from crisp white, camel, peachy nudes, grey then finally, black. This gradual transition of colours perfectly mirrors a man’s wardrobe from day to night during the spring summer season – light colours for day and black for the evening time. The essence of the collection for me is in the precision in tailoring and a conspicuous confidence – drowned in the luxurious Italian fashion label’s distinctive lavish style from head to toe. Shown by a parade of muscular models - complete with delicious 6-packs - catwalking along to the cool beats of The Rakes’ 22 Grand Job and The Maccabes’ X-ray vision, the runway presentation was an infectious affair that gets me catwalking out of the venue wishing that I have Lenz in my arms.

Higher than sky-high heels from Versace's Fall/Winter 2009/10 Collection
When I first saw these amazing shoes from Donatella Versace’s Fall/Winter 2009/10 collection, I immediately asked myself how high can I go? Well… Never made for the weak, these va-va-voom higher than sky high heels are certainly made strictly for the stylish bees! I love how they could work great with trousers, skirts, dresses and even evening gowns. My favourite pairs are the peep-toe shoes in lila as well as the pretty pumps in scarlet red. Being a part of the glam squad would no doubt be a piece of cake when you are in Versace!
In other news regarding the extravagant Italian fashion house, not only has three of its stores closed down in Japan due to the immense effect the economic crisis had over there, but also job cuts has being announced: 26 percent of its worldwide work force would be cut by the mid of next year [1]. That is 350 employees out of the original of about 1,360 would lose their jobs. Well… This is certainly not the very best of times for family businesses, but as Ms. Versace said: “I AM a survivor” [2], I am certain the house would live on in sky-high style.

Well… After four fantastic fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, it’s time to round everything up. One of the things to work on is, of course, to make a list of favorite models, especially the ones who made our heart pulse faster and faster as they walked on the runway. For me, there were five girls, who I just can’t seem to get enough of this spring/summer 2010. Here they are in alphabetical order.
Scandinavian sells: Freja Beha Erichsen and Frida Gustavsson
The first two girls from the list both hail from Scandinavia and their names both start with a fantastic letter: Freja Beha Erichsen from Denmark and Frida Gustavsson from Sweden. I just love Freja’s versatility and her unique personality. She can wear any masculine or feminine outfits and she will look striking in both! I also love the fact that she doesn’t just wear the clothes. She works the clothes in her own style, when she wears it. It is no wonder that she scored 43 shows this spring/summer. Freja’s highlight this season must be at the Chanel show when she kissed with Dutch model Lara Stone in the hay. Cheeky!
