Tear & Wear Inside out

T-Shirt by Inside out

Torn tee & cardigan print top by Inside Out

Ripped and torn could look utterly unbearable and heinously hideous, if not done correctly. Thank god we have Inside out! With its exquisite eye for quality and design, the 2007-born British label totally rocks high fashion’s lavish version of the derelict look. Designed by Central St. Martins Graduates James Woolfin and Yvette White, this long sleeved T-shirt (£165.00) is our pretty pick of the pack. We just love the exuberantly eccentric print, which features an incredible image of a torn tee and cardigan. It adds flair to the look and turns this simple garment into something genuinely fantastic that deserves to be bought and worn a.s.a.p.!

To be cruel is to be kind

An example of how a flawless Luella handbag looks like

An example of how a flawless Luella handbag appears to the eye

Dear my beloved Luella Handbag,

Oh Luella! Oh my Lovely Luella! Even though I don’t even know your name for sure, (because your tag has fallen out unexpectedly when I brought you home); that does not mean that I do not love you. In fact, my love for you is deeper than an ocean and more infinite than infinity. I was tremendously shocked today to find that your flawless self has become… defected! Oh, my Lovely! Tell me – your true and only love – why art thou scratched? I know my true-blue shabby hobo style, which includes a daily routine of wearing a worn-to-shreds Tee (Not By Alexander Wang), naturally faded-to-grey Ksubi jeans and vintage-looking not-vintage shoes, does not deserve a complimentary accessory like you, but that does not mean that you have to blend in with my ruggedness by destructing yourself to match my poor standards. I appreciate your almighty thoughtfulness and your overly-kind gesture, but really, if you want to be kind to me, please continue being cruel to me by maintaining your perfectly impeccable appearance. I would very much be grateful of you forever and ever.

Kisses and Hugs,
-Your Lover-

You Make The Sun Shine Brighter Than Doris Day

Richard Nicoll's sunny resort 2010 collection

Richard Nicoll's sunny resort 2010 collection

When I first spotted Richard Nicoll’s sunny resort collection at Harvey Nichols, the ultra cool beverage of Orange Mocha Frappucino, as drunk by the four fantastic male models in the movie Zoolander (2001), immediately popped straight out of my mind. I like the warm, fuzzy and uplifting character of the collection. It truly radiates this “you make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day” character. Presented in the picture above are:

Christopher’s Crispy Candy

Presented in the picture above are Christopher Kane’s Pleated Satin and Organza A-line dress, velvet stripe organza dress, multi-velvet stripe shift dress

Christopher Kane’s Crispy Eye-Candy

Christmas is coming soooo soon and you certainly cannot have enough sweet sweet candy over this festive season. If you still don’t have your poptastic party outfits ready for battle, then, let me show you Christopher Kane’s fantastic fall/winter 2009 collection once again. First on my agenda is the celebrated designer’s velvet stripe organza dress (also known as High Volume silk-organza dress on net-a-porter £1,291). This dress is simply the divine choice for lunches, tea parties and any day time activies you would have to attend. For dinner at home, Mr. Kane’s pretty pleated satin and organza A-line dress (a.k.a Hanna silk and velvet dress £1,291) is for sure ideal to swing around the kitchen. Then, to finish the evening off with a splendid night out, you definitely cannot miss the magnificent multi-velvet stripe shift dress (also known as sleeveless crazy stripe dress on net-a-porter £2,313). I just love the remarkable work on the dress, in particular the use of these marvellous metallic appliqué in the colours of sweet irresistible candy, which creates the striking statement for an unforgettable Christmas. Once again, merry Christmas, everyone!

Available at Luisa Via Roma and net-a-porter.

Get Sexy in Sonia Rykiel!

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M Christmas 2009

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M Christmas 2009

Mark the Date! Sonia Rykiel for H&M’s lingerie collection is coming to stores worldwide on 5th December 2009. Ready or not, you know, it’s going to strike in style! So far from the pictures released, the collection seems to be playful and chic in the French label’s notorious ways! Although to me the girls in the campaign – Lara Stone, Anne Vyalitsyna and Caroline Trentini – looked out of place and not in sync with each other, I just love the way each girl looks so comfortable and at ease in it. That’s the way underwear should be, no? Body conscious, smart and sexy; Sonia Rykiel has it!

Long Live Luella

Smells like Luella: Frances and Bertha floral dresses from Luella

Smells like Luella: Frances and Bertha floral dresses from Luella

Ooo… Dear! Have you heard the terrible news? Luella has just lost a major investor. Singapore-based retail group Club21 has just left our favourite British label, consequently, forcing a halt in both public trading and production of its current collection [1]. Upon this, Ms. Bartley commented: “This is a very disappointing situation for everyone involved with the brand… I very much appreciate the support that VSQ has given me, but it is upsetting not to be able to protect jobs in this difficult economic climate.

Rebecca, Gretel and Maggie dresses from Luella

Well… This is just shocking for all of us, because we just adore the quirky English fashion label! If you want to see the Spring/Summer 2010 line on the shelves, don’t hold back any longer, it’s definitely time to shop and show your support! One of the things I love the most about Luella is its party dresses. It doesn’t restrict the person who is wearing it, but rather, it lets your personality come out as well as guaranteeing infinite fun – something that is totally out of the question for a lot of high fashion brands. On sales now and on my must-buy list are the following dresses:

  • Frances Floral Georgette dress, Ref: SS090085DRFGT0998, (£450.00 £225.00) – This beautiful relaxed fit pintuck dress with tiered skirt is perfect for the summer. The bow and ruffles give a very chic and gracious feel to this wardrobe staple.
  • Bertha Floral Organza dress, Ref: SS090090DRFOR0998, (£695.00 £347.50).
  • Rebecca Check Muslin dress in purple, Ref: SS090094DRCHM0696, (£365.00 £182.50) – This bodice dress is neat and elegant with a twist. Nipped in at the waist this piece has a beautifully delicate asymmetric ruching across the bust, giving it that something extra.
  • Gretel Plain Organza dress in Lilac, Ref: SS090086DRORG0758, (£595.00 £297.50).
  • Maggie Plain Organza dress in Blackberry (also available in pink and purple), Ref: SS090083DRORG2698, (£625.00 £312.50) – Worn with either one or two shoulder straps, this frill skirt prom dress has a neat asymmetric style. Another true example of Luella’s belief in modern eclectic British femininity.

All dresses available at Luella.com.

Light my flower power

Flower Power By Luella

Flower Power By Luella

Forget all about flower by Kenzo and go flower power with exemplary creations from the lovable English fashion label Luella. Luella’s flower motives bloom vividly in the colours of the rainbow creating a cheery joyous vision that is positively infectious. As French writer Jean Giraudoux said, the flower is an example of the eternal seductiveness of life. The pretty round-necked short cuff-sleeved blouse with ruffle detail would, no doubt, emit a sweet scent to put a big smile on anyone’s face; and the fitted hip skirt with the asymmetric sash and the bow detail would certainly be the primrose in the center of attention amongst a bed of roses at any garden parties. Go, flower power!

Spring/Summer 2010 Runway’s Fantastic Five

Well… After four fantastic fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, it’s time to round everything up. One of the things to work on is, of course, to make a list of favorite models, especially the ones who made our heart pulse faster and faster as they walked on the runway. For me, there were five girls, who I just can’t seem to get enough of this spring/summer 2010. Here they are in alphabetical order.

Scandinavian sells: Freja Beha Erichsen and Frida Gustavsson

Scandinavian sells: Freja Beha Erichsen and Frida Gustavsson

The first two girls from the list both hail from Scandinavia and their names both start with a fantastic letter: Freja Beha Erichsen from Denmark and Frida Gustavsson from Sweden. I just love Freja’s versatility and her unique personality. She can wear any masculine or feminine outfits and she will look striking in both! I also love the fact that she doesn’t just wear the clothes. She works the clothes in her own style, when she wears it. It is no wonder that she scored 43 shows this spring/summer. Freja’s highlight this season must be at the Chanel show when she kissed with Dutch model Lara Stone in the hay. Cheeky!

Rainbow-colored stripe shirts from Harvey Nicols

For as long as I live, crisp white shirts have been a stable garment for men; but I guess every now and then, you just need something spicy. That’s why these rainbow-coloured stripe shirts from Harvey Nichols are the perfect thing to spice up the upcoming icy cold season. Presented in the picture above are (from left to right):

Dorothea Barth Jörgensen, Frida Gustavsson and Melissa Bell in Acne

Many people know Acne only as the avant-garde leader in the Jeans sector of the fashion world. Surely, this Swedish brand, whose name is an acronym standing for “Ambition to Create Novel Expression”, is more than just jeans! It’s also amazing clothes to beautify everyday!
