One of the coolest gifts found in the RAFW show bag for me is none other than the DHL Calender showcasing a mind-boggling range of Haute Couture garments made from packaging materials – designed by the great German designer Michael Michalsky. Although this ancient set of images has been published for who-knows-how-long (almost half a year actually), it’s just amazing to see the collection printed in über-HQ quality, because that’s when the magic comes alive. Impossible certainly does not exist in the magnificent world of Michael Michalsky and you know what? Although arriving fashionable late is in vogue, the global delivery company recognises the importance of punctuality and guarantees timely delivery. Respect.

Lala Berlin, you make me wanna lala!
There is just something inexplicable I like so much about this crazy-looking Pola Tank (€243) with mad graphics of these industrial tools from the illustrious designer Leyla Piedayesh for her brilliant fashion label Lala Berlin. When I stare really hard at it, the print on the silk top comes alive, as wheels start to turn and the nails start to fall. Alright! I admit, I may be thinking far too much, but that’s only because I want it so badly and that I need to draw attention to it regardless of all consequences. {Wink! Wink!} Let’s work it!

Hitch your wagon to Starstyling!
Starstyling – the fashion label hailing from Germany – has a mission. Not just a label, the German designers Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried’s mission in fashion is to “offer original style dedicated to visual reflections of trends and society… bringing stimulation, energy and joy to all”. Evidently, the designer duo has succeeded their goal most effortlessly in that area. Catching our eye for edginess this season are their shiny tote bags decorated with sparkling metal strips, which aroused not only our sincere interest, but also concern for the content in our wallets, as these little babies could cost up to €50. Auch! Well… One shall never forget: individuality is a luxury!
Nonetheless, the German fashion label also produces a fun and fabulously funky T-Shirt collection. Reflected through the catchy caption on the web store which made us faint and weak from over-laughing, these designs express themselves most innovatively in a brutally humorous way. Our favorite from the bunch is undoubtedly the pollo T (€60). Painted by hand, we just love how bright and colourful and unique it is. For us, this is indeed the perfect stellar catch for Spring/Summer 2010!

Made For Kissing. Made for Loving.

Romanian model Andreea Diaconu shows off Schumacher's Spring/Summer 2010 Collection in Bebelplatz, Belin
Reading Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s (1918-2008) semi-autobiographical work Cancer Ward, I found a passage that reminded me of the finesse beauty of Schumacher’s Spring/Summer 2010 collections, especially the boat-neck shirt with the sparkling lips motif, which we wrote about a month ago.
“Her smile was kind, not so much as the lips themselves. They were vital, separate lips, which seemed about to flutter from her face like a lark into the sky. They were made, as all lips are, for kissing, yet they had other more important work to do: to sing of brightness and beauty.” – page 79.
See Schumacher’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection yourself online at My Theresa and in KaDeWe Berlin, Harrods and Lane Crawford.

Kiss Me All Over, Schumacher!
What says passion and love more strongly than… well… big fat kisses? It is no doubt that German designer Dorothée Schumacher used this very motif to convey her intense fervour for the fashion industry in order to celebrate the 20 glorious years she has served us. Available at My Theresa are her kisses-besieged collection for Spring/Summer 2010. Sophisticated, strong, feminine yet funky are words that come straight to mind when we see her collection. However, surely what makes us fall as total victim under her love spell is its absolutely unequivobly timelessly romantic style. Purely fantastic!
Presented in the picture above are Schumacher’s sleeveless silk top with contrast black shoulder strap (€269,00), boat-neck shirt (€119,00) and last but not least draped skirt (€298,00). All available at My Theresa.

Terrific Thai!
When people talk about Thailand, the word “fashion” rarely comes to mind; and that certainly makes it all the more special to learn about this terrific Thai fashion label – Playhound by Greyhound. The brand’s philosophy mixes the main line’s chic and contemporary, simple but never boring style; and adds a touch of youth and experimental attitude to the clothes to make it all the more irresistible. For fall/winter 2009, the three pieces I absolutely adore are the shoes with the bone-chilling X-ray vision of the foot showing each individual toes in detail; the tie with the print of the beautiful texture of age-old trees as well as the tie with the bloodcurdling X-ray image of the arm. These pieces, for me, is worn at its best with the song X Ray Vision by The Maccabees blasting on the speakers. Creepy is charming, no?
Playhound by Greyhound is available at Seibu in Hong Kong, Traffic boutique in Moscow and Paris, Opia shop in Zürich, Fourstore in Berlin and Tjallamalla in Stockholm.

RIP, Daul Kim
Dearest Daul,
It has been a strange day today without you. We simply do not know how to react. We are shocked and we miss you so much! The sun is strangely shining oh-so-brightly above us today. Are you looking at us from above? Sending us big warm hugs? Here we would like to thank you once again for the sense of joy and delight you bring us through each of your runway appearances, your editorials, your ads, your blog and of course, last but not least, your eccentric videos! We truly love you at blogyul! Rest in peace, Daul Monster!
Lots of love,
-Yulya X and Robert-

lovely lamella
I am still not sure whether I like the Spring/Summer 2010 bridalware collection from the Berlin based fashion label Kaviar Gauche; but I sure do like the sight of their lovely Lamella bag. I love the special radiating lotus-leaflike structure. I find it rather delicate and I think it really stands out from the pack of traditional handbags. Presented in the picture above from left to right are Kaviar Gauche’s lamella bag made by calf leather (419-499 EUR depending on size) and mixed leather (450 EUR). All prices include 19% VAT.

Kilian Kerner Spring/Summer 2010 Berlin
Upon first inspection, Kilian Kerner’s show with its all glittering glam rockness might seem like a Germanised replication of Gucci’s Frida Gianini’s mentality; but the show the young German designer put up last July during Berlin Fashion Week 2010 certainly exhibits his unique style and broadcasted that gilded vision all over the world to bring us Kerner’s drop of illuminance.

Schumacher Fall/Winter 2009/10: Soft Shades
I have a soft spot for the sublime Anna Kuchkina, so I am not surprised when she together with the gorgeous Ieva Laguna scored this editorial called “Soft Schades” in Schumacher’s Fall/Winter 2009.10 magazine.
