Hellooo, Haider Ackermann!

Haider Ackermann Spring/Summer ready-to-wear 2010

Haider Ackermann Cresta Leather Pocket Waistcoat

Have you ever met a piece of clothing that makes you feel that you are born to wear it? Well… I think I have just found my ideal match: Haider Ackermann’s Cresta Waistcoat (€1379) is certainly an addictive piece that I would not want to take off once I put it on. Made in Italy, this fine waistcoat with its eccentric detailing speaks of an incredible style that is elegant and refined – yet it also has a purely punky Edge that is overwhelmingly tough and powerful.

Peter Jensen Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection

Peter Jensen Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection

Victoria Tuaz wears Peter Jensen Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection.

It’s not every day that I fall madly in love with a fashion label in a matter of micro seconds, but it certainly looks like this is such a shameless case today. Namely, Peter Jensen’s Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2010 collection is simply fantastic! Running high on the innovation factor, the Danish-born designer’s signature is his mischievous touch on each piece of the collection creating something slightly twisted, but always youthful and super refined.

Cool in the Courtyard

Fudge vol. 22 May 2010.

Playing fashion. Slovenian model Marko Brozic enjoying his life in Prada.

Two of my favorite guys – Marko Brozic and Christopher Rayner – team up with soon-to-be-favourite-of-mine Nick R for this editorial from Fudge magazine’s May 2010 issue. Dressed in the season’s hottest buys from foreign high fashion labels as well as local talents by Stylist Marutani Naofumi, the boys look irresistibly cool chilling out in this picturesque courtyard. My ultimate favorite picture from this bunch of pictures by photographer Tokumaru Junichiro is no doubt Chris in the blindfold wearing a total look by Ann Demeulemeester. The composition of that picture from the pretty prickly epine black leather necklace to the obscured facial expression works flawlessly. This is definitely already listed as a favorite editorial of mine for the month.

Less Than* Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Tokyo

Less Than* Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Tokyo

Less Than* Showroom

I remember the day when I went to the Less Than* showroom like it was yesterday. It was a fine but chilly day in March. As a result of JFW overload and unsuccessful adjustment to the weather, my brain was really frozen that day, so really, I wasn’t expecting much in particular. With a little bit of difficulty finding the venue, (because the entrance to the building was slightly hidden and that the exhibition moved from level 4 to level 5 or something like that), I made it to the showroom. Stepping into the exhibition space, one could really sense the immense creativity behind the work.

Erdem’s Colour Vision

Erdem’s Tomoko sunnies with Kyoto print £290.00

Anastasija Kondratjeva in Erdem's Tomoko sunnies

A collaboration between two amongst London’s sea of talents – the iconic eyewear label Cutler & Gross and the celebrated fashion label Erdem – resulted in something magnificent. With its colourful Kyoto watercolour-printed frame in classic sixties style, it looks like this edgy pair of Tomoko sunnies (£290.00) from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection is the perfect accessory to accompany me during the flamboyant season whether in the city of by the beach. Mmm… Fantastic!

Arnsdorf Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010/11 Sydney

Arnsdorf Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010/11 Sydney

Day 5 of RAFW: Arnsdorf Spring/Summer Collection 2010/11

When I first laid eyes on Arnsdorf show invitation, I knew precisely it would be something absolutely extraordinary and I was not wrong at all. Sleek, chic and extremely refined, beautiful girls with bright smiles showed off the Spring/Summer 2010/11 line entitled “Opticks” at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. Designer Jade Sarita Arnott’s approach for the upcoming season focused upon the incredible idea of “reflection, refractions, inflections and colours of light”.

Warning! Warning! Hot new arrival alert! Available at Lad Musician’s web store and one pair is this set of über-cool Joy Division inspired Tees by Japanese label Lad Musician. Prices range from ¥ 8,400 to ¥ 8,820. Frankly speaking, I am losing control over the U-neck Sharp Hem Line Tees. Can’t wait to put my claws all over it!

Miss Unkon Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010/11 Sydney

Miss Unkon Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010/11 Sydney

Day 5 of RAFW: Miss Unkon Spring/Summer Collection 2010/11

Circuit running fashionistas may have been über-tired on Day 5 of RAFW, but it was certainly worth running around in the highest sky high heels ever to see Miss Unkon’s Spring/Summer 2010/11 show. Designer Courtney Meyer opened the show with Olympic Ribbon Dancer Naazmi Johnston doing those unbelievable moves of her amidst the playfully decorated venue. Waving a pink ribbon gracefully in her hand, it was as if she had the wizard’s magic wand, with which she entranced the audience into a dreamy state to be in the right frame of mind for the upcoming display of absolute gorgeousness.

Kirrily Johnston Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010/11 Sydney

Kirrily Johnston Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear Collection 2010/11 Sydney

Day 4 of RAFW: Kirrily Johnston Spring/Summer Collection 2010/11

Taking inspiration from a post apocalyptic time in the future, when humans live in absolute harmony with nature, Kirrily Johnston’s “Apocolypto” show presented a collection that literally walked on the wild side. Graphics were one of the elements which popped out like no others at the show. Stripes and an angular triangular print, which references the sharp modern architectural aspect of society, decorated the collection in a ferociously fierce way that was just major.

Michalsky and DHL work like magic

DHL Fashion Week Calender 2010 by Michalsky

Designer Michael Michalsky and his magnificent models in DHL-inspired Haute Couture gowns

One of the coolest gifts found in the RAFW show bag for me is none other than the DHL Calender showcasing a mind-boggling range of Haute Couture garments made from packaging materials – designed by the great German designer Michael Michalsky. Although this ancient set of images has been published for who-knows-how-long (almost half a year actually), it’s just amazing to see the collection printed in über-HQ quality, because that’s when the magic comes alive. Impossible certainly does not exist in the magnificent world of Michael Michalsky and you know what? Although arriving fashionable late is in vogue, the global delivery company recognises the importance of punctuality and guarantees timely delivery. Respect.
