Mighty McQueen Strikes Lane Crawford

Alexander McQueen for Lane Crawford's must have scarf

Alexander McQueen for Lane Crawford's must have scarf

If you have me on your twitter, you may already know that I am guilty of cleaning out the entire Luella store of last season stock, last last season stock and prehistoric stock; and am thereby, banned from shopping anywhere online and offline this month. However, I am glad to announce that my quota for February is still wide open. One item that I am eager to snatch off the rack as soon as it touches the shelf is Alexander McQueen’s exclusive collection for Lane Crawford – due to arrive on the very first of February (that’s just tomorrow!!!)!

Yamkocht Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Hong Kong

Yamkocht Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Hong Kong

Yamkocht Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2010/11 Hong Kong

For fall/winter 2010/11, the fashion label Yamkocht presented a show, entitled “Plane Dressing”, that is inspired by something that may seem childish, silly and even frivolous at first: paper dolls. Designer Yam Chan gave these inanimate objects not only a fresh breath of life on the runway, but also an incredible wardrobe that mixes the hardness of paper with the softness of femininity.

Marni Is Always On My Mind

Marni shortsleeved Crew Neck Jersey T-Shirt Puppet Print

Marni short-sleeved Crew Neck Jersey T-Shirt Puppet Print

There is a famous line from the soundtrack of the movie Sister Act 2. It says: “If you wanna be somebody, if you wanna go somewhere, you better wake up and pay attention”. Although I should live my life accordingly, I just cannot get myself to do so recently. The reason? I just cannot forget this adorable Marni T-Shirt (£135.00)! With the sweet face of the playful puppet printed on the lily white cotton Tee, Marni once again exemplifies a youthful energy in its unique eccentric artistic style. The stylised doll with sharp teeth appears as if it is going to bite us. Although it has not done so literally, I believe mentally and spiritually it has already achieved that effect. Afterall, who can explain why else I am so severely infected with Marnimania – dreaming about it day and night, paralysed and not able to do anything else? Well… I guess I must obey my psychologist (a.k.a. me!) and grab it quick, before it sells out in a jiffy!

Available at Marni.

Russian model Masha Novoselova stars in Patrizia Pepe's Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

Who else could work Patrizia Pepe’s Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign as amazing as the sizzling hot Russian-born British model Masha Novoselova? Correct me if I’m wrong: dressed in the Italian label’s dazzling collection, the 24-year old sexy Siren, who stars in the campaign for the second time, truly looks like she’s on fire! Well… What are we waiting for? Shall we throw her into the water?

Russian model Maria Kashleva shows off Viktor & Rolf’s Cruise 2010 Collection

I simply cannot believe I did not see Viktor & Rolf’s Resort 2010 collection earlier. I mean everything in the collection is so phenomenally beautiful that I really hope each and every piece of the collection could and would make its way to the stores. Unquestionably, it ought to!

Bang! Bang! We Want A. Wang!

Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw in Alexander Wang's Resort Collection

Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw in Alexander Wang's Resort Collection

It totally stinks that we were not able to find any good [1] Alexander Wang stuff at final sales anywhere at all! Argh… Did someone hide ‘em all for themselves – instead of benefitting the food good of the society? Seriously, do I really have to pay full price to wear one of those extremely cool but thin-as-nothing Tee from him? [2] Besides, you know what? Last season stock is actually quite appetising on me, despite being ‘old’ and ‘out of fashion’.

Beware Of Proenza Schouler’s Sweet Lil’ Beetle

Proenza Schouler’s red and purple fish print Jaquard Mini Sac

Proenza Schouler’s red and purple fish print Jaquard Mini Sac

For Spring/Summer 2010, the designer duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough pushed the idea of playing with tie-dyes and motifs inspired by the big surf further than they did last season. The result is nothing disappointing at all, rather it yielded sparks and more divine magic! One item that we are dying for is Proenza Schouler’s red and purple fish print Jaquard Mini Sac (€ 805.00 VAT Included). We just love the ingenious print work with the colours arranged to form an abstract pattern that reminds us of the shell of a sweet little beetle. So hypnotic!

Available for pre-order at Luisa Via Roma.

Anna Kuchkina – Model/Photographer/Student

Mysterious Dark Beauty

Mysterious Dark Beauty

Dear Anna,

Oh… Please forgive me for being so nosy for wanting to invade your personal sphere, but recently, I was sharing a deep conversation amongst a friend in regards to a handful of our favourite models. I was stunned to learn more about you – in particular your educational background and interest on photography. In the hopes of learning even more about the true you – not from a second hand source – I am writing this letter to ask you:

  • Why did you choose to study psychology?
  • What has your study on psychology taught you in life?
  • How have your experiences in modelling changed you?
  • When did your interest in photography begin?
  • What are your inspirations?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours most sincerely,
-Yulya-
