X File #426, Black Eyed Peas Lead Singer Fergie Encounters the Mothership

Yulya Xays: It has been strange to watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (VSFS) this year, because my perception of it has changed so immensely. VSFS is pretty much the first fashion show I have ever watched when I first became interested in fashion. This year, VS continues the tradition with another sugar-coated feast to television viewers – complete with eye-candy on top of eye-candy. My absolute favorite look was Marina Linchuk in the diamond-encrusted piece shown in Segment 5 “Romantic Journey”. Anna Maria Jagodzińksa, who followed Marina on the runway, was also super striking. Shame she only had one appearance at the show. Abbey belongs to the top of the list, because I love the energy she brought to the show. She was 100% fun to watch on screen!

Miqro:  Question.  What looks dumber than a beautiful supermodel stepping off a flight of stairs and running straight into a mirror?  Answer:  The idiot who thought it was a good idea to put a mirror at the bottom of a stairway, and then televise that near disaster.  My favorite shows were 2006 and 2008.  Without Adriana, Angela, Carmen, Carolina, Flavia, and Jessica, 2009 felt like half of the Secret equation was missing.  The American Idol pre-season format of the TV show was no substitute.  I tuned in expecting to see the best, not the wannabees.  2009 needed more Behati, more Sheila, and less laser chargin’.  I think it’s fair to put Fergie in the top three.  She was hired as a musician, she was wearing less than some of the models, and she would have made a smashing opener walking the runway.  There were many, many gorgeous models to rate, and having my favorites out of the running made it trickier than ever.  If I were forced to exclude Fergie, then Abbey would be my #5 this year.
