Oh, Miu Miu! Is it not the most magnificent, the most marvellous and the most magical show of all this Spring/Summer 2010? With a charming collection shown on a fantastic set with fabulous music, Miuccia Prada certainly did not disappoint me! Not one tiny single bit at all!

Fashion is forever young. For Spring/Summer 2010, Italian designer Miuccia Prada ventured into that dangerous world that belongs to the youth and brought us this captivating collection of hers.  “I was questioning innocence, questioning youth,” explained Mrs. Prada. “What do they mean today in a world that’s the opposite?” [1]

Hair stylist Guido Palau plaited the models’ hair into hip-length beautiful golden braids, while make up artist Pat McGrath bleached out the models’ eye brows, painted their lips nude, then, added lengthy exaggerated lashes to create the look for Miu Miu’s child-like modern Repunzel. The wardrobe, likewise, carried the same mood and vibe. Playful prints of childhood motives decorate the collection, giving it a dreamy quality, which dares the mind to dream. Is Mrs. Prada not pumping fantasy back into a concrete world, where we lose track of our childhood dreams as we grow old?

However, the collection is not as simple and naïve as the sound of its theme. Mrs. Prada did place a lot of emphasis on the chest area creating erotic wonders. For example she played with the texture of the skin and the colour nude, which is used abundantly this season. The effect is most dramatic on the finalé dresses, which are nude in texture and embellished with lavish encrusted jewels, as worn by Russian model Anastasia Kuznetsova in the picture below.

After seeing a few celebrities conquering fashion’s ‘impossible’, i.e. Beyoncé in Gareth Pugh and Rhianna in Balenciaga, I believe Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2010 collection is definitely wearable with its dreamy appeal and dazzling splendour. It is not something for the weak nor the lazy, it is for fashion’s most stylish; and that’s what makes Miu Miu special. It is the cream of the crop!
