I have wanted to make this entry on Cheap Monday for a little while, all because I saw this sleek black doll wearing this ultra cool pair of ripped Cheap Monday jeans in the podium floor at the luxurious Lane Crawford department store. Then yesterday, I watched an interview of Swedish newcomer Frida Gustavsson on models.com. In it, the sweet Swede, who has sensationally swept New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 by storm, told us in that adorable voice of hers that she was wearing whatelse but those super sweet Swedish jeans. Well… How can I resist anymore?
The Fall/Winter 2009/2010 collection consists as usual of pairs and pairs of jeans in the Swedish label’s famous super skinny cut in different styles and colours. The new addition to the menswear and womenswear’s collection are these ridiculously good looking ripped jeans. They appear as if they had been attacked ferociously by a hideously monstrous fashion police, but then, thankfully were rescued by the good fairy at Cheap Monday, who has added a variety of fine finishing touches to bring their life back! Eccentric stitches, sexy lace patches and the modest yet still very rock ‘n’ roll denim patches saved the day by adding a hobo edge to these chic jeans. The overall look is provocatively sharp and daring, yet also unbelievably refined.
The most surprising thing for me was that I thought these jeans were made only for the womenswear collection. However, they also look dashingly great on men, as seen on the striking Swedish model Charlie Westerberg in the Autumn/Winter Catalog. Good things certainly come in twos… and are definitely made for two!
With these sensational new additions, the Swedish firm, which established in 2004 with the aim of selling “really good-looking jeans at really great prices”, have certainly completed their purpose. Très cheap! Très chic! Très cool!
