To me, Jessica Miller is one of those girls who can put on a potato sack and still I would say: “WOW! She’s sooo… sexxxy!” So when the sassy former Calvin Klein Jeans model became the face of Max & Co’s “just me” campaign for fall/winter 2009/10, the temperatures just keep rising infinitely. Ohhh… Could somebody please stop that girl from doing further drastic damages to our beloved mother earth by intensifying global warming?
Shot by Emma Summerton at MFA and styled by Cathy Kasterine at Smiletoo, the whole lookbook recreates a distinctively subdued and elegant mood to complement the classically lady-like collection – refined and full of individualism.
Undoubtedly, the collection, flooded with a range of fine and refined knitwear, focuses as usual on mix and match to create your own personalised style. However, for fall/winter 2009/10, the limelight falls conspicuously on capes and coats – in cocooning shapes, military style, bomber style or double-breasted classic cut available in a range of colours from mono-colours to eccentric quilted prints.
Seeing that even Christopher Bailey of Burberry Prorsum did a spring/summer 2010 collection for men, entitled the weather, which consequently placed the limelight upon coats; this is for sure an appropriate move for Max & Co, too, as coats are no doubt a stable element in our wardrobe and particularly, in the Northern Hemisphere, where the weather is absolutely bananas unpredictable and a luxurious statement coat is essential for all. I particularly like one double-breasted banana yellow coat, as seen on the cover (Click here). Can you imagine how great it will look in winter amidst all the white snow? A big drop of sunshine amidst the unbelievable coldness bringing us warmth and delightfully chic style.
Overall, I like Max & Co.’s easy understated style, its irresistibly sleek chic elegance and above all, its classic timelessness. It is something that will last in the wardrobe – quality-wise and style-wise. Max&Co definitely marks classicism at its best.
