I know a sell out when I see it and Alexander McQueen’s zesty cruise 2010 collection is certainly one that belongs to that category.
For 2010, the British prodigy employed strong graphic elements in the construction of its print and shape to assemble an eccentrically unique look for his cruise collection. There is a sense of symmetry and asymmetry in the various pieces. Hypnotic graphic prints seemed to have taken its cue from Viktor & Rolf’s take on digitalism (from Spring/Summer 2009), as it seeped right through the core of this very collection in McQueen’s flamboyant style.
Modelled by Baltic Beauties, Estonian model Kelli Lumi and Latvian model Yulia Leontieva, the collection with a great assortment of crazy pants suit and fantastic dresses exhibits itself as one that could work well on duty and off duty.
I love the prints formed by the crisp lines as well as the magnificent tie dye prints. The two must-have looks for me were: the tie dye cardigan paired with fiery leggings; and the sunshine yellow dress with a tattoo-esque mystic black overlayer.
With a collection so splendid, no wonder they call him “Alexander – the Great”!
