Believe. Achieve.

Are you a Carmenizer?

Do whatever you want, to get wherever you want...

I know it is almost half way through 2009, but I feel so strongly about writing down these goals just to keep track of progress, you know? Usually I like to write headlines that rhymes or show some sort of repetition, i.e. 9 goals in 09, but this year, to keep things simple and achievable, I have 4 goals only and nothing ridiculous, like “I wanna be Natalia Vodianova”. Mind you. That goal had been on my list for a handful of years now. That is definition of ridiculous, no?

4 goals in 09
  • Begin writing short stories… again!

I was cleaning up my former bedroom and found these crazy ridiculous stories I used to write, and I remembered how fun they were. I miss them and plan to re-live those moments of joy and pride.

  • Work in Fashion

There is nothing worse than not waking up in the morning. Not only do I get pimples on my back when I sleep too much, I also become wider on the horizon, thus, occupying more valuable surface squares on earth. What a waste of our earth’s precious resources? The only solution: to fulfill my dream and work in fashion.

  • Learn more vocab

There is nothing wrong with using the same vocab. all the time, as long as your message gets out there, but sometimes, a little bit more variety shows your depth, sophistication and most of all, excitement; and I hope to achieve that.

  • Use time more efficiently

An unofficial research has indicated that I spend almost 75% of my life time lying down, and 50% of that time, I am on the couch. Litter does not come appear more manifestly than this…

Tsesay Spring/Summer 2009 Ad Campaign: Anna Kuchkina by Frances Tulk-Hart

Tsesay S/S 09 Ad Campaign: Anna Kuchkina by Frances Tulk-Hart

Tsesay S/S 09 Ad Campaign: Anna Kuchkina by Frances Tulk-Hart

What great news? I am so happy to see that Anna Kuchkina has landed the Tsesay campaign for Spring/Summer 2009. I always thought Anyechka has a great look – very dark and mysterious, the sort that is tough and strong, but also very womanly and fragile at the same time. Photographed and styled by Frances Tulk-Hart in the campaign for the company known for its haute couture knitwear, the classic Russian beauty not only brings out the subtility and romanticism associated to knitwear, but also transmits that free-spirited rebellious energy. A combination, which utterly captivates my heart…

Vogue España May 2009: Carmen Kass by Paola Kudacki

Estonian model Carmen Kass on the cover of Vogue España May 2009

The 463-paged mega issue for Vogue España May 2009 features Carmen Kass photographed by Paola Kudacki. What is special about the cover is its outtake-like nature, with shows the Estonian model, dressed only in a black blazer jacket and knickers of the same shade, appearing shocked by the presence of the camera in the manner that echoes the rhythms of “I got locked out of my hotel room”. This cover exhibits the experimental approach of Vogue España, which differs it from Vogue all over the world.

Vogue Russia May 2009: Magdalena Frackowiak

How many reasons are there for me to love Russia – the vast country with vast resources, which stretches from the far east to the far west? Not only does the country yield one of the most gorgeous looking human beings, it also has one of the most good looking ex-President/Prime Minister in the world! Mmm…

The best treasure of all this month has to be Vogue Russia – one of the best fashion magazines in the world!

Excellent! It’s Edita!

Christian Dior "Escale à Portofino" Fragrance: Edita Vilkevičiūtė

Christian Dior "Escale à Portofino" Fragrance: Edita Vilkevičiūtė

I hear all these gossips about Edita, sometimes that just makes me neglect her appearance, as I just do not feel like I can adore her as much as I do when it comes to some of the other models. Nonetheless, that does not mean she is not a great model. This picture from her new campaign for Christian Dior’s Fragrance “Escale à Portofino” arrouses my interest for the Lithuanian model once again. Ms. Vilkevičiūtė, representing a classic beauty of the 1920s à la Greta Garbo style, reclines casually on a chair by the palm beach. This ad not only brings the sea closer, but also transmits boundless grace and elegance. It is simply divine!

Poly Power: Dreaming of Natasha

Power Poly works it [1]!

Power Poly works it! For more see endnote 1.

You know you are an ‘it’ girl when you have the power to jump from one dream to another.

Guess what?

Ms. Rusya, who is just sleeping a few beds away from me, also dreamt of Ms. Poly yesterday night.

She told me she was walking down the plain suburbian streets of Tokyo in the dream and suddenly… Voila! There came the stunning Russian model Natasha Poly glimmering oddly out of an Asian crowd the ordinary.

Ms. Rusya quickly extended her hand to greet the 23 year old.

Ms. Poly, who meets probably a million people in a day, was at first uncertain as to who the short chubby girl was; but after two split seconds, the intelligent Russian model quickly figured out she was just another fan.

Hi, Nataaaaasha, how are you?”, shrieked the naive first year university students hyper-enthusiastically. “What are you doing HERE?”

I am on my way to meet my boyfriend.” Ms. Poly explained with poise and elegance. “The last few times I called, he did not respond, so I am just here to give him a surprise.”

Oh… Yeah… They are so annoying. Are you still with that 45-year-old man? [2]” asked the 19 year old daringly.

No. No. No. I’ve moved on.”

An extended awkward silence…

The pair started walking together and arrived in Belgium at a site with a waffle truck [3] parked by the side of the road. At the back of the truck, there is a banal-looking but immensely-masculine man of great built. He stopped his task of loading the truck up at the immediate sight of the long-legged model. Passionately, he greeted her, “Hi, Lily!” [4]

No, it’s NATASHA!”

Yeah, you are right,” said Mr. Boyfriend half-heartedly, then, quickly, turned his attention to Ms. Rusya to avoid further embarrassment. While the curious bitch protagonist of this dream wondered why on earth the hot Russian babe is going out with this not-so-Mathias-looking and not-so-rich guy, it was like he could read her mind as he explained that he is experimenting with different occupations and different paths in life whilst he is still young.

Ms. Rusya woke up.

What a silly dream?

Endnotes:

[1] Natasha Poly in an editorial “Soleil de Minuit” from Vogue Paris March 2007 by Inez and Vinoodh.
[2] Ms. Rusya is thinking of Ms. Barsukova here.
[3] Ms. Rusya is a BIG fan of waffles.
[4] This is obviously a mix up with the Gucci ads.
