Gucci Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2009 Milano

Ever since Mr. Ford left, I have mixed feelings for Gucci – the Italian luxury house currently under the reign of the creative designer Frida Giannini. When I say mixed feelings, I really mean it. There is something I love about it and something against it. It operates precisely at a 1:1 ratio and that is where the trouble begins, because neither side wins nor loses. Frankly speaking, Gucci is really something a part of me. It is an intimate subject matter and the fact that I cannot decide whether Gucci is still a friend or foe makes me utterly mental. This season, the emergence of such an uneasy feeling is no exception.

A splash of acid green painted in accordance to the twinkling crystal blue eyes of the seductive Russian model Anna Selezneva creates a look that is poisonous and may result in smoking accidents of unknown details. Ahhh… Gucci!

Behnaz Sarafpour Spring/Summer Ready-to-wear 2009 NYC

It had been 3 days since I last washed any dishes. As I woke up with a rather large mosquito bite on my arm this morning, perhaps it is time to finish the long-overdue job. To accompany me throughout this atrocious task, I played the firstface video from FTV for Spring/Summer 2005. In one segment, I saw Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana opening the show for Behnaz Sarafpour with a dress embellished with jewels and face powdered white and painted juicy red in the centre. That was a stunning collection with a great mix of Eastern and Western elements. Four years later, Ms Sarafpour seems to have fallen off the radar in an industry that is ingrained with the concept of “Flavour of the Week”. Well… Let us catch up with what’s new from the talented New-York based womenswear designer.

Wet T-Shirt

My Luella for Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) T-Shirt

My Luella for Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) T-Shirt

I know. I know. You thought I fooled you to click onto this entry with the rather-clever title, but it is nonetheless a fact, as my Luella for Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) T-Shirt was 100% soaked wet when I took this picture after washing. Today is a special occasion, because it is approximately 9 months since I purchased this T-Shirt; and despite the grainy photograph taken above, the print on the T-Shirt is still new and it is still sparkling white. So quality does last, no? Support Environmental Justice Foundation and viva la Luella!

Trip to Newsagency: Week 3 of 09

German model Christina Kruse on the cover of Elle Italia November 2008 by Matt Jones.

I was going to write my CV… I had promised myself to write my CV for a few months now and you know what? Contrarily, I just cannot get the November 2008 issue of Italian Elle out of my mind. What a storm it has created within me? Should I buy it or should I not? There are simply too many great images in it that I cannot bring myself to focus on other things and yet my newly purchased bookshelf is already stacked full with magazines. I have to tell someone, otherwise my CV will be completed in the next century. Here is what I love about this issue of Elle Italia:

Chloé Fall/Winter Ready-to-wear 2008/09 Paris

Seasonal Greeting love from Chloé 2009

Seasonal Greeting love from Chloé 2009

I do not know whether I should feel lucky or not, as I am one of the ‘few’ people who have received an exclusive new year seasonal greeting with love from Chloé for 2009. There are two reasons for my hesitancy:

  1. Chloé does not seem to produce a lookbook/catalog to send to their customers and most importantly their potential customers
  2. Swedish designer Paulo Melim Andersson – one amongst my ‘short’ list of adorned designers – is no longer creative director at the french label

Let’s expose!

lexposure.net logo

Style.com reported a feature with the headline “better than facebook” earlier this month. Well… Guess what? Forget that hype! I’ll tell you what’s better than facebook: lexposure.net – because fashion goes deeper than a look!

As the developement of Web2.0 advances, there are an increasing number of platforms on the web, where we could express ourselves in ever so many ways in the digital world. Lexposure.net not only offers infinite fashion, style and industry news, but it also connects you with that world – closing the distance between people and an exclusive industry which traditionally existed and further enhancing this notion of a global village, a term coined by Canadian Philosopher Marshall McLuhan in the 1960s to describe the social effect of telecommunication. Industry contacts are just a click away.

Moreover, lexposure.net includes other features which makes the websurfing experience interactive and personal on many different levels. Like other social connecting networks, such as facebook, myspace, Linked and friendster, it allows users to share ideas and connect socially, but what is different is that it goes beyond these social networks, as it exposes users to the world of what is current and on top to a greater extent. One example of that is “the hype” feature, which allows user to post topics of interest found on the internet, which other users may comment on or vote upon in terms of its ‘hotness’; hereby, the concept of hype. Ultimately, it fullfils the purpose of web 2.0: user generated content by offering that freedom to contribute.

In the year 2003, a great philosopher [1] once said: “When I am sad, I go on style.com; when I am not sad, I also go on style.com.” Perhaps that lonely philospher no longer have to reduce oneself to one single charm, as lexposure.net offers fashion on different levels as never experienced before.

So sign up now (click here.) and expose yourself!

[1] This great philosopher is the great Ms X.

Dear Dansk Røde Kors

Dansk Rode Kors - Break the habit Campaign

Dansk Rode Kors - Break the habit Campaign featuring Denmarks top models: Mia Rosing and Gertrud Hegelund/Elite Cph; Eva Helene Skarvig, Lasse Pedersen and Eddie Klint/Unique; Jesper Lund and Mathias Lauridsen/Scoop Models; Pernille Møller and Stephan Haurholm/1st Option

Wowww… I am a bit late on this, as I understand you released these set of bags in October last year, but I only saw the advertisement in the latest issue of Dansk Magazine last weekend. Forgive me for my late response. Wowwww… How amazing? Honestly, what a great idea! Stylish, chic and for such a great cause! The combination is simply perfect. I am a sucker for that. Denmark is truly one of the most innovative countries with ever the most creative solutions. I do not think any other red cross organisation anywhere in the world have done anything similar of the same degree and effect as you has done. You are utterly unique and absolutely ahead of our times.

It is in! Finally! I hate it that I always get this pain in my heart every time I think I missed an issue of Vogue Italia. Thank god it’s in! So what more shall I do? But to take this chance and just grab it and go straight to the counter! Credit, please!
